Our team is dedicated to safeguarding user location privacy, security and safety by using advanced privacy technologies and maintaining complex user location services and its associated data. To meet our commitment, we are building a world-class compliance-based location infrastructure that spans all user location data lifecycle stages across various online/offline environments, including client network control, load balancer, micro-services, online storages, message queues, and offline storages. In addition, strong architecture design skills are essential, as our infrastructure is also directly serving different businesses.

As a Backend Software Engineer on the team, you will:
- Design, build and maintain large-scale and high-availability location systems with privacy design by default, and optimize architecture for global public cloud and private cloud infrastructure;
- Build user location data warehouse to ensure data is well protected and properly used, support analysis of user location data based on compliance requirements;
- Work on anonymization/pseudonymization/encryption technologies to protect user privacy in data processing activities;
- Work with engineering and product teams to ensure that TikTok is compliant with privacy laws and regulations from a technical perspective in location domain;
- Respond to compliance incidents, if they occur, including collecting information on scope and root cause as well as managing remediation.Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate currently pursuing a Degree/Master in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Understand the design ideas of distributed system architecture, including but not limited to service-oriented, asynchronous, highly available, scalable, etc;
- Familiar with common open source distributed middleware and common components such as MySQL, Redis, and MQ;
- Experienced in building backend services for large-scale consumer-facing applications;
- Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Go, C++, Python, Java;
- Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures and algorithms;

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in general location based services or high-traffic & high-concurrency server systems is preferred
