About the Role & Team

As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you’ll work with theScore’s product management, design and engineering teams to enable quality software delivery via stable and efficient automated testing in a fast-moving software environment. You will be working with QA Leadership to refine and improve our test automation solutions and capabilities. The ideal candidate has excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, good communication skills, a passion for sports, up-to-date knowledge of test automation and a demonstrated history of heavy lifting and guiding of automation frameworks and solutions.

About the Work

  • Be a vigilant advocate for quality, raising bugs and concerns to feature teams and informing and guiding teams and stakeholders across Product Management, Design, Development and Delivery teams of an accurate picture of quality as it pertains to your component(s) of focus.
  • Analyze the test automation framework for optimization opportunities, presenting and implementing solutions that improve the quality, efficiency and scalability of our test automation.
  • Responsible for owning the automation quality for the component team you are assigned, analyzing current coverage and identifying and covering gaps to enable confidence in an automated regression sign off for the component.
  • Be vocal during requirements refinement with feature teams and be able to describe risk level of features being developed in discussions with engineers and product.
  • Develop automated tests for features alongside feature development.
  • Demonstrated ability to decompose a feature set into API and UI automated tests yielding high confidence in an automated regression for your component.
  • Performing code reviews for peers, providing feedback to make our automated test solutions more efficient and stable.
  • Become a product expert in our sportsbook platform to ensure the automated tests and framework align with our prioritization, delivery & compliance methodology.
  • Investigate test failures using root cause analysis during triage, prioritization, maintenance, and planning efforts.
  • Work with your feature team and automation team to define and maintain a prioritized Automation Backlog.
  • Meaningfully contribute to integration testing and security testing initiatives, including offering and implementing solutions.
  • Provide precise and timely reporting of test KPIs - automation progress, risks & issues.
  • Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies, including stand-up, backlog grooming and retros.
  • Other duties as required.

About You

  • Degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
  • Extensive experience in API testing and integration testing in a white box manner.
  • Experience taking on refactoring efforts for mobile and web automation frameworks to stabilize and make more efficient.
  • Experience building automation frameworks from greenfield is desired, but not required.
  • Extensive experience automating tests for native mobile applications using Appium.
  • Experience automating tests for web automation using Selenium.
  • Experience and comfort coding in Java and Kotlin, with at least 3 years of experience with OOP languages and ability to speak to OOP concepts.
  • Deep technical knowledge of software build and CI/CD processes.
  • Experience with Gradle and groovy
  • Experience and comfort creating and optimizing jobs in a Continuous Integration tool like TestRail.
  • Extensive experience with mobile build tools, log extraction, and crash log literacy.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and context switch based on priorities communicated or independently determined.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team while prioritizing daily tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Other duties as required.
