About Thermo Fisher Scientific

As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

Location / Division Information

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Semiconductor Business Unit in Brno, Czech Republic, where we develop world-class electron microscopy and sample preparation systems that enable next-generation semiconductor innovation.

Our team designs and delivers advanced dual-beam FIB-SEM platforms used across semiconductor manufacturing and failure analysis environments — from expert-driven workflows to highly automated labs operating at the leading edge of process technology.

As a Sr. Solutions Architect, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the next generation of semiconductor sample prep and analysis systems. You will serve as the technical leader for a portfolio of advanced FIB-SEM products, driving system architecture, technology strategy, and multidisciplinary product development from concept through commercialization.

This is a highly visible role requiring deep systems thinking, technical leadership, and close collaboration across R&D, product management, operations, and business leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the system architecture and technical direction for advanced semiconductor-focused FIB-SEM platforms.
  • Translate customer needs, market requirements, and technology trends into system requirements, product architectures, and scalable platform designs.
  • Define and drive product roadmaps aligned with business strategy, technology evolution, and customer value creation.
  • Identify critical performance differentiators and emerging technologies to maintain industry-leading system capability.
  • Own architectural integrity across key system performance metrics including resolution, accuracy, stability, throughput, automation, and reliability.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, software, controls, optics, and physics domains from a technical perspective.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and Program Managers to define product scope, technical priorities, risk mitigation strategies, and execution plans.
  • Drive system-level tradeoff analysis balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, serviceability, and development timelines.
  • Promote platform scalability, technology reuse, and architectural standardization across product lines while reducing obsolescence risks.
  • Establish effective technical review processes, engineering rigor, and clear success criteria throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with global business, operations, manufacturing, and R&D stakeholders to ensure successful product delivery and long-term portfolio growth.

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly collaborative and technically accomplished systems leader with a passion for solving complex engineering challenges in a fast-paced high-tech environment.

The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on technical depth, strong leadership capabilities, and a pragmatic approach to product development and execution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in complex high-tech R&D environments, preferably within semiconductor equipment, electron microscopy, precision instrumentation, or related industries.
  • Proven experience leading system architecture and multidisciplinary product development for sophisticated hardware/software systems.
  • Demonstrated success driving complex engineering programs from concept through product realization.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, architecture methodologies, and product lifecycle development processes.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Expertise in structured design methodologies (DFMEA, DOE, RCA)
  • Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools
  • Experience working in regulated environments (UL, IEC, agency certifications)
  • Local language and fluency in English required
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with electron microscopy, FIB-SEM systems, charged particle optics, vacuum systems, precision mechatronics, or semiconductor process technologies.
  • Experience developing automated or high-throughput semiconductor inspection, metrology, or analytical systems.
  • Familiarity with systems integration, controls architecture, and advanced software-enabled instrumentation platforms.
