DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: Engineer III, Software & Systems

Role Overview

Responsible for sustaining Windows desktop applications used in clinical analyzers. The role focuses on defect resolution, feature implementation, cybersecurity remediation, Windows image management, and debugging customer-reported issues while working with physical instruments in the R&D laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, debug, and unit test C#/.NET WinForms applications.
  • Investigate customer-reported issues through code analysis, debugging, and root cause identification.
  • Implement product enhancements and software maintenance releases.
  • Improve cybersecurity posture by addressing vulnerabilities and applying security updates.
  • Create and maintain Windows 10/11 system images and software configurations.
  • Work directly with analysers instruments to reproduce, validate, and verify fixes.
  • Collaborate with Systems, QA, Hardware, Service, and global engineering teams.
  • Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, technical documentation, and code reviews.
  • Support CI/CD improvements, automated testing, and engineering process enhancements.
  • Undertake documentation and other engineering support activities as required.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with significant experience in software engineering.
  • 12+ years Experience developing Windows desktop applications or systems/software applications.
  • 10+ Experience sustaining commercial software products and debugging complex legacy code.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong C# and .NET Framework expertise including WinForms, LINQ, collections, asynchronous programming, parallelism, and debugging.
  • Microsoft SQL Server with ability to write efficient SQL queries.
  • Understanding of algorithms, performance optimization, and software design principles.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and secure software development.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, CI pipelines, Git, Windows Services, multithreading, TCP/IP, IPC, and exception handling.
  • Good to have: Windows imaging/configuration, automated UI testing, networking (DNS, TLS), embedded C++.
  • Ability to understand complex technical and scientific requirements
  • Ability to travel occasionally (5-10%) for collaboration with global teams.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics, Computer Applications, or a related discipline.
