Position Summary:
We are seeking an Engineer III – Electrical / Embedded to join a growing R&D team in Hyderabad supporting sustaining engineering, VAVE, and lifecycle management for the KingFisher sample preparation systems and Detection instruments.
In this role, you will be a key individual contributor, owning electrical and embedded subsystems, executing design changes, and supporting system integration. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, improve product performance, and contribute to cost optimization initiatives, while continuing to build depth in embedded systems and instrument design.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Embedded Development
- Design, develop, and support electrical circuits, PCBAs, and embedded systems (firmware interfaces, microcontrollers, communication protocols).
- Own subsystems or modules, including design, implementation, and verification.
- Support debugging and troubleshooting of electrical and embedded issues at board and system levels.
- Contribute to design documentation, schematics, and interface definitions.
Sustaining Engineering & Lifecycle Support
- Execute sustaining activities including issue resolution, ECO implementation, and component obsolescence management.
- Perform root cause analysis of field and production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Support testing, validation, and qualification of design changes.
Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE)
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities within electrical and embedded designs.
- Evaluate alternative components and design approaches in collaboration with senior engineers.
- Support design for manufacturability and cost initiatives.
System Integration & Technical Contribution
- Collaborate with systems, mechanical, and software teams to support system integration and verification.
- Contribute to requirements definition, interface development, and test planning.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions, providing data-driven input.
Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with global R&D teams (Finland, US, Singapore) to support knowledge transfer and ongoing product support.
- Partner with manufacturing, quality, service, and sourcing to resolve issues and improve product performance.
- Collaborate with Business Unit Product Management to support execution aligned with product priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical or embedded engineering.
- Experience with PCB design, circuit analysis, and embedded systems development.
- Strong skills in debugging, root cause analysis, and hands-on problem solving.
- Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with embedded firmware development (C/C++, RTOS, communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART).
- Experience with life sciences or analytical instrumentation.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and cost optimization.
- Experience with lab equipment, test methods, and validation processes.
- Exposure to regulated product development environments.
