JOB TITLE: Software Development Engineer II, Disney+ Hotstar

LOCATION: Bangalore

JOB SUMMARY: As an Android Software Development Engineer II in the monetization team, the role involves designing and implementing features to ensure application stability under guidance. Seeking a technically proficient individual for the team with the ability to code on the systems they work on. ABOUT THE TEAM: Disney+ Hotstar’s Subs & Paym team is pioneering flexible subscription plans and seamless payment options. We're building a cutting-edge subscription platform to rapidly introduce new plans and drive substantial revenue growth through global subscriber expansion. Our continuous innovations include targeted coupons, referral services, and integrations with leading payment gateways such as Google, Razor, Phonepe, Adyen, Billdesk, Payu, and Paytm. Collaborations with key partners like Airtel, JIO, Tataplay, and others are enhancing user experience and delivering value to both our company and customers

REPORTING TO: Engineering Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Influence the development of individual features and products, integrating best practices and patterns applicable to the Android engineering lifecycle
  • Take ownership of scaling mobile app development efforts across Engineering, offering insights into refining processes and tools to support increased contributors in our architecture and code
  • Work on feature development for our acclaimed apps for smartphones and tablets
  • Take ownership of end-to-end product quality, from development to maintenance of core app frameworks, enhancing reliability and user experience
  • Prototype new ideas and explore cutting-edge technologies in mobile technology

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Proficient in building mobile applications and mobility solutions, particularly native applications
  • Expertise in UI components and controls, including Action Bars, Widgets, and Fragments
  • Mastery of basic Android components: Activity, Services, Intent, Broadcast Receiver, and Content Provider
  • Strong experience with Web Service Integration (REST, JSON, XML, Protobuff) and cloud technologies such as AWS, GAE, and GCM
  • Extensive knowledge of various mobility areas, including Enterprise mobility and mobile applications across domains like Retail, VAS, Media, BFSI, Healthcare, Social Networking, and E-commerce
  • Experience with analytics, location, and social APIs, as well as MDM, payment gateway, SMS gateway, media content transcoding, cloud integration, and APM tools
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose is a plus
  • Experience with Google Subscriptions and various payment gateways like Razorpay, Phonepe, and Paytm is a plus
