As a senior individual contributor on our Mechatronics team in our Hardware Engineering group, you'll be based in Boston but operating on a global scale within the Play Engineering organization!
Core Responsibilities
Serve as a senior individual contributor with expertise in both physical acoustics as well as associated electronics and signal processing to raise the bar on the engineering behind LEGO Group products that involve audio experiences.
Play key individual contributor role in work involving acoustical system technical requirements definition, proof of concept work, product/platform development, risk management, and test engineering from idea stage through mass production.
Work as part of a global multi-functional team (North America, Europe, Asia) to deliver to the market and lifecycle manage integrated, manufacturable solutions at excellent quality and high volume.
Ensure acoustical solutions are aligned with our architectural blueprint and meet all safety/regulatory/quality requirements and all other agreed-to requirements.
Demonstrate by example excellence in engineering, collaboration, innovation, risk management/mitigation, and delivery.
Work in tight collaboration with other hardware group functional team members (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, and Embedded Engineering) from Boston, Denmark, and Singapore to support our capability growth efforts.

The Senior Staff Engineer, Acoustical Engineering plays an important role as the authority on acoustics in our Hardware Engineering group. The role is based in Boston, where LEGO Play Engineering is expanding our global footprint to help advance groundbreaking innovations that will redefine the future of play for the builders of tomorrow.
Do you have what it takes?
A builder with passion for creatively using technology as a vehicle to deliver truly inspired play experiences to children around the world.
9+ years of experience in Acoustical Engineering roles that involve small/miniature scale acoustical system design engineering from concept to mass production on high complexity projects.
Strong experience in modern high-volume, cost-constrained, end-to-end acoustical system development and productization in relevant markets (e.g. consumer electronics, robotics, medical device, or similar).
Proven skills in navigating and making smart decisions pertaining to audio system hardware/software interdependencies and trade-offs (physical acoustics, signal processing, firmware, test engineering, collaboration with internal and/or external content providers, etc.)
Exceptional capabilities in both creative technical problem solving and people skills, as proven by working successfully with internal and external 3rd party partners.
Ability to travel as necessary, roughly 20-30 days per year, as part of our global team.
New Location Update
This position will initially be based at 501 Boylston St or 10 St. James Street in Boston, before moving to a new office location at 1001 Boylston St by mid-2025. Our hiring teams will discuss this with you during the interview stages.

Compensation
The salary for this position has a range of $124,700 - $187,000 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
