Are you passionate about materials and their impact on real-world production? In this role (Manager Specialist level), you’ll act as the global packaging materials expert, owning standards and enabling the successful implementation of new materials across LEGO® Group’s packing operations.

Core Responsibilities

As part of the R&D Novelty & Packaging Development team, you will own and govern global packaging material standards for newly developed materials, with a primary focus on rigid plastics and related packaging categories such as labels.

More specifically, you will:

  • Own global material standards, including specifications, documentation, and lifecycle governance
  • Lead industrial implementation of new materials into production and packing operations
  • Act as the packaging materials specialist in packaging development and packing lines development projects
  • Ensure material feasibility across manufacturing environments, equipment platforms, and operational setups
  • Lead validation, testing, and qualification in collaboration with Quality, Production, Manufacturing, and Procurement
  • Manage technical collaboration with material suppliers to ensure performance, quality, and value
  • Direct ownership of rigid plastic, printed matters

This position is located at our Billund headquarters, and there is no relocation assistance offered for this role.

By standardizing new solutions and continuously improving existing equipment, E&W enhances operational efficiency, product quality, and safety. Working closely with suppliers and using new technologies, the team drives innovation, ensures compliance with industry standards, and supports the company’s long-term strategic goals.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Expertise in polymer and plastic materials, including rigid plastics, with practical experience in packaging applications
  • Strong understanding of production capabilities and how packaging materials interact with machinery, ensuring feasibility of new materials
  • Experience in project planning and managing internal and external partners
  • Excellent communicator, able to convey complex material concepts across diverse teams
  • Up to date on packaging material trends and able to align them with LEGO Group’s future needs
  • Collaborative attitude, sharing knowledge and engaging effectively across functions
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of 2D, 3D drawing software
  • Knowledge of paper-based products
