Job Description
IND Lead Quality Engineer - GCC025We’re determined to make a difference and are proud to be an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. Working here means having every opportunity to achieve your goals – and to help others accomplish theirs, too. Join our team as we help shape the future.
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to join our Enterprise Digital Solutions team in Hyderabad, India. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain reliable automated tests across UI and API layers, embed quality checks into CI/CD, and partner with Engineering and Product to prevent defects early. You’ll contribute to scalable test architecture using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript and help improve test stability, coverage, and release confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Test Automation Development
Develop and maintain automated test suites for critical user journeys (smoke, regression, end-to-end).
Create maintainable UI automation using Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript (reusable fixtures, selectors, and page abstractions).
Build and enhance API automation (request validation, data setup/teardown, and basic contract checks where applicable).
Analyze failures, triage defects, and collaborate with engineers to identify root causes and prevent regressions.
Framework & CI/CD Integration
Contribute to and continuously improve the Playwright automation framework (structure, utilities, reporting, and test patterns).
Implement scalable execution capabilities such as parallelization, environment orchestration, and reliable test data management.
Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (PR validation and nightly runs), with clear reporting and quality gates to support fast, reliable releases.
Leverage AI/LLM tooling (where approved) to accelerate test case authoring, refactoring, and failure triage (log/trace summarization).
Follow responsible AI and data-handling guidelines; collaborate with Security/Platform teams to ensure compliant use of AI-enabled testing.
Contribute ideas and small proofs-of-concept to improve test intelligence (failure clustering, flaky detection), as needed.
Collaboration
Partner with engineers, product owners, and DevOps to clarify acceptance criteria and ensure testability of requirements.
Participate in code reviews for automation and share best practices for stable, maintainable tests.
Promote shift-left quality by adding automation early in the lifecycle and providing fast feedback to the team.
Quality Engineering & Governance
Define automation scope for critical business journeys and ensure coverage for new/changed features.
Track and report quality metrics (pass rate, stability/flakiness, defect leakage) and propose improvements.
Communicate test status, risks, and release readiness to stakeholders with clear, actionable information.
Required Skills & Experience
5-7 years of hands-on experience in test automation for web (and/or mobile) applications, including designing and maintaining automation frameworks.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript.
Expertise in architecting and scaling cross-platform test execution using BrowserStack SDK/Automate in CI/CD environments
Deep experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
Practical experience using or operationalizing AI/LLM-based testing tools.
Familiarity with agent-based testing concepts and orchestration patterns (e.g., MCP or similar) is a plus.
Ability to influence quality outcomes through strong collaboration, clear communication, and pragmatic decision-making.
Experience making architecture-level automation decisions in complex environments.
Strong system-thinking mindset with the ability to balance speed, quality, and risk.
Strong background in Agile, DevOps, and continuous testing practices.
Experience supporting cloud-native, microservices, and API-driven systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in enterprise-scale or regulated environments.
Exposure to CIAM, security testing, or identity-centric platforms.
Prior experience driving quality transformation or modernization initiatives.
Familiarity with observability, analytics, and test intelligence platforms.
