Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Billing IT organization in Hyderabad, India as a full stack engineer responsible for implementing modern, cutting-edge architectural patterns across the application stack. This hands-on role requires close collaboration with architects and engineering teams to deliver high quality solutions aligned with The Hartford’s technology roadmap. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Java, Angular, AWS services, Oracle databases, API development, microservices, and event driven architectures, with a demonstrated focus on security, resiliency, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain microservices using Java Spring Boot and API integrations using AWS technologies.
Develop modern, user centric UI components following frontend best practices and accessibility guidelines.
Create and modify Unix jobs that interact with Oracle backends.
Create and modify Oracle backend components like procedures, packages etc.
Integration and unit testing in alignment with DevSecOps best practices.
Triage issues end-to-end, apply strong debugging skills to rapidly identify root causes and restore service.
Develop and deploy solutions using AWS cloud services like AWS Lambda.
Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, scalability, and performance.
Participate in Agile development processes, Partner with stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, test coverage, and adherence to engineering standards.
Assist in documenting solutions, processes, and best practices.
Drive continuous improvement and introduce innovative ideas that bring measurable business impact.
Required Skills & Experience:
5-8 years of experience in software engineering
Mastered knowledge of Java best practices, standards, and design patterns
Intermediate understanding of rules and rules configurations.
Intermediate level configuration of new maintenance and business objects without supervision
Intermediate level of understanding of unix and autosys batch processes.
Intermediate level ability to create new UI screens, or modify existing ones
Solid grasp of writing SQL queries, with proven experience using oracle database technologies.
Experience with Github: ability to create branches from the correct base branch, open PRs, perform code reviews, and resolve issues with local git setups if needed
Intermediate level of experience interpreting application and batch logs
Demonstrated ability to lead design, implementation, code quality, and delivery across distributed services in a hybrid environment.
Ability to leverage AI tools and Copilot to improve productivity in day-to-day tasks, including development, debugging, documentation, and automation workflows
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience working in Agile teams.

DevOps & Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
Testing: JUnit, NUnit, integration testing, TDD/BDD
Nice to Have
Experience with Terraform/Cloud Formations.
Knowledge of rules frameworks, including configuration and maintenance, is a strong plus.
