Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We want you as a talented and versatile Docking Mechanism System Engineer to help us in integrating the COTS docking system that will enable Nyx to rendezvous and dock with the International Space Station and subsequent Commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) destinations.
Key Responsibilities
In your capacity as the Docking Mechanism System Engineer, your role will continuously evolve, but initially your day to day duties will include:
Ensure the integration and delivery On Time, On Quality and on Cost of the COTS docking system for the first Nyx Earth iteration, acting as main Point of Contact with the supplier.
Maintain and ensure the compliance with the docking system requirements and specifications based upon applicable Nyx spacecraft requirements and appropriate International Space Station Docking requirements and interface control documents.
Act as the Functional Chain responsible for the docking system functions and ensure definition and verification of both nominal and off-nominal behaviors, including the interfaces with the avionics system and the flight software, and all safety and reliability aspects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Vehicle Design, Avionics, GNC and Flight Software to integrate the docking system into the overall Nyx design.
Drive design reviews, technical meetings, and problem-solving sessions to address engineering challenges and ensure design integrity of the docking mechanism.
Ensure the availability of hardware for internal verification activities related to the docking system.
Drive joint verification activities with ESA and NASA related to the docking system including the logistics and coordination between the involved parties.
