Please note: This is not a Remote role and will require the incumbent to be based in Shanghai, China and work a hybrid schedule.

This is an individual contributor role without any direct reports allowing you to bring your unique vision forward as our business continues to expand in the research and development space.

Job Description Overview

The role of this position is a key connection with APAC Operation Units and an active member in Global SME network to:

  • Lead and performs complex projects to support stakeholders’ requirements, problems solving, global initiatives etc.

  • Seek collaboration opportunities and continuous improvements in the networked organization.

  • Share expertise and insights in the field of Analytical Chemistry, from protocol design and testing to reporting and presenting.

Applicants should have solid technical knowledge on Analytical Chemistry with preference of hands-on experience using advanced analytical instruments (3-5 years with Ph.D., 5-10 years with MS, or 10+ years with BS.). Good understanding of GLPs & Quality Management Systems (QMS) is required. Capable of method development and validation, strong project management skill, excellent communication and ability to acquire new knowledge & technology to better enable business decision are highly desirable.

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

As Subject Matter Expert (SME):

  • Develop and validate methods, conduct and/or lead routine and non-routine testing, edit technical reports, maintain instruments, work independently and/or in a collaborative team environment to support OU & Global projects and meet company business needs.

  • Work closely and flexibly with stakeholders as a strategic partner to fully understand clients’ needs on analytical service & technical support by demonstrating skills, experiences, and knowledge; moreover, provide enough influence to identify and reach alignments on working programs to those agreed services.

  • Recognized subject matter expert in analytical science etc. related fields, evaluating data/information and making decisions, providing solutions to problems, and educated opinions on ingredients, syrups, beverages, concentrates or other substances to provide support to the Company and the food industry. 

  • Act as consultant to the team on technical topics and provides guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to enable the capability building.

  • Bring forward creative, reliable & instructive suggestions and information in the field related topics by exploring novel and advanced state-of-art technologies, new research from institutes.

As Technical Project Lead:

  • Lead technical project to support global initiatives enhance capabilities internally and system wise.

  • Act as APAC-PIP coordinator, ensure global consistency and efficient communication with OU.

  • Be APAC-TPL coordinator, setup and maintain effective TPL management mechanism and associate internal expertise to provide technical consultation.

As Operating Unit (OU) connector:

  • Strengthen the connection with OU through communication, workshop/ meeting participation, to understand the requirements and needs.

  • Seek collaboration opportunities, work with team leaders to develop and setup new projects accordingly.

  • Promote APTC technical support (externally) and participate in capability development plan discussion (internally).

Qualification & Requirements

  • Master’s degree or above in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or other related majors is preferred

  • 3-5 years with Ph.D., 5-10 years with MS, or 10+ years with BS. in a Laboratory of Food & beverage or relevant industries.

  • Solid field specialty, as well as hands-on experience on advanced analytical techniques.

  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, facilitation and communication skills.

  • Strong project management skill.

  • Good understanding of GLP and ISO 17025.

  • Laboratory management experience will be a plus.

  • Multi-cultural experience is preferable.

  • Excellent English & Chinese in written and oral.
