The Role 

Lila Sciences is seeking a dedicated Simulation and Systems Integration Engineer to join our team.  

Responsibilities include: 

• Digital Twin Development: Design and develop digital twin models that accurately represent our automated laboratory and robotic systems. 
• Simulation Suite Implementation: Create and maintain robotic and process simulation environments to test and validate system performance and integration. 
• Hardware and Software Integration: Develop and integrate software components for hardware and robotic applications to ensure seamless system functionality. 
• UI/UX: Build, using as much or as little AI enabled frontend dev as is needed, GUIs and APIs to our infrastructure to enable our human and AI scientists. 
• Data Integration: Incorporate data from various sensors and sources into digital twin models to enable real-time simulation and analysis. 
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, engineers, hardware developers, and researchers, to gather system requirements and ensure cohesive integration. 
• Performance Analysis: Utilize simulation results to identify and address potential performance issues, optimizing system efficiency.   
• Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation of system designs, integration processes, and simulation results. 

Qualifications: 

• Education: Degree in a STEM field, or equivalent work or research experience.  
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in developing and integrating digital twin models, simulation systems, or similar modeling or simulation infrastructure development roles. 

Technical Proficiency: 

• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, C#, etc. 
• Proficiency in hardware-software integration. 
• Deep experience in system-level modeling and simulation. 
• Experience in building and refining digital twins, and/or the ability to model complex environments, instrumentation, and robotics.  
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, system monitoring, and edge and cloud hybrid deployment strategies.  
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to those in other fields. 
• Team Collaboration: Proven experience working in collaborative team environments, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills. 

Alternative Qualifications:  

• Industry or Research Experiences: Videogame infrastructure development, Warehouse autonomy, or similar simulation-heavy industries. 
• Advanced Technologies: Deep industry, open-source, or research experience in AI/ML hardware integrations, Simulation suites targeting Fluidics, Robotics, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics, and/or a field that we’ve never heard of!
