Position Summary:

FL106 is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate with expertise in chemistry to play a vital role in the company’s efforts to validate novel target discovery approaches. The candidate must be independent, goal oriented, have excellent communication skills and be willing to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. This is a unique opportunity to drive the growth of an early-stage biotechnology company where you can contribute to the next frontier of genetic medicines. Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to design, plan and execute experiments that support research activities, project goals and platform development.
  • Perform chemical synthesis, purification, and biophysical and biochemical characterization of project compounds, supporting and meeting appropriate timelines.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and instruments
  • Troubleshoot challenging technical, experimental and instrumental issues
  • Meticulously record and analyze data
  • Serve as a key contributor to the development of new technologies in genetic medicines.
  • Assist in managing out-sourced CRO-based workflows related to medicinal chemistry

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field (e.g. organic chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology or pharmaceutical science), with 2+ years of laboratory experience preferably in bio-pharmaceutical industry.
  • Candidates of various experience levels will be considered. Position to be determined commensurate with experience.
  • Hands-on experience in biorthogonal “click” chemistry techniques for a range of biomolecular compounds
  • Hands on-experience in implementing biophysical and biochemical analysis and purification techniques (including HPLC, FPLC, SEC-MALS, DLS and related).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Motivated and excited about therapeutic and assay development.
  • A dynamic problem solver and self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced with various ELN and LIMS systems.
  • Experience with molecular biology and cellular assays with a variety of readout technologies, such as qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry and immunofluorescence.
  • Experience with LC-MS and/or NMR is nice to have.
