Position Summary:
FL85 is seeking a highly talented individual to lead the development of automation solutions for the analysis and production of genomic medicines. This role will be a vital part of the Technical Development team, working with scientists across the organization to adapt key assays and processes onto liquid handlers and other lab automation tools. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience programming and maintaining lab automation equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, optimize, and implement novel liquid handler methods for high throughput screening, analytical assays, and production methods
- Collaborate with scientists to adapt workflows onto liquid handlers and other lab automation tools
- Author SOPs for automated methods and train colleagues on software tools and equipment
- Maintain automation equipment, troubleshoot issues, and manage equipment servicing and preventative maintenance
- Support data collection and sample tracking in an ELN system
- Explore and evaluate new technologies in automation and liquid handling
Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in engineering or life sciences, with 6+ years of relevant experience in industry
- Hands-on experience programming and operating liquid handlers
- Experience adapting bench level assays to automation protocols
- Experience working with service engineers to troubleshoot and maintain automation equipment
- Proven ability to work both independently and on cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and technical environment
- Proactive in identifying and overcoming problems
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Comfortable delivering against challenging commitments
- Experience with Python, C+, or a similar programming language is a plus
- Experience with CAD, 3D printing, or other rapid prototyping tools is a plus
