Tesla has an immediate opening for a technical people leader to join the Production Engineering team in Buffalo, NY. We are seeking a highly motivated, tenacious and team-oriented leader to be responsible for the performance of an equipment engineering team that owns critical metrics related to manufacturing. The team drives improvements in overall equipment efficiency, availability, and cycle time through documented actions with clearly defined schedules and expected results. This applicant will not only lead by example, but also performance manage the team where needed to generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability.

- Manage mentor and lead a team of equipment engineers at Gigafactory NY focused on our residential energy and supercharging products
- Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams’ safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operations
- Build & improve management systems to ensure all equipment operates safely, with high availability & product quality and low cycle time
- Own, report on and drive improvement of area KPI’s including equipment availability, efficiency and cycletime
- Coach engineers to develop and implement equipment upgrades to increase capacity, lower cost and improve yield
- Lead and assist engineers in resolving unplanned down events and driving permanent RCAs, using the 3D/8D process where applicable
- Make daily resource allocation decisions, balancing competing priorities, to serve the needs of the engineering, maintenance, and production communities
- Degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing preferred) OR equivalent in direct work related experience
- Demonstrated experience successfully leading engineering teams within manual and automated high volume manufacturing facilities
- Exemplary track record of high impact contributions both as an individual engineer and in a management capacity
- Ability to command the English language both written and verbal
- Experience with application and teaching of structured problem-solving methodology, such as DOE, root cause analysis, etc.
- Experience with mechanical, automation, and controls engineering is highly preferred

Expected Compensation
- Supervisor Engineering - $81,600 - $122,400/annual salary
- Associate Mgr Engineering - $105,400 - $158,100/annual salary
