Job Summary

The Senior Network Software Engineering Specialist (Solution Designer) role will provide the software designs to support the development of new software capability. The Solution designer will provide and lead specialist analysis, design, development and deployment in network specific technology domains, including developing platform specific technology roadmaps and making technology investment recommendations to deliver products and infrastructure to defined service level standards

This role will work with a team of developers, testers, subject matter experts and business stakeholders to design and develop new capabilities in a suite of Logical network inventory products for Telstra’s Global Networks and Technology group to take to market.

This role is an important contributor in ensuring that the future products and service enhancements/changes are successfully delivered within Telstra’s logical inventory applications.

Focus of the Role:

The Senior Network Software Engineering Specialist (Solution Designer) role will provide the software designs to support the development of new software capability. This role will work with a team of developers, testers, subject matter experts and business stakeholders to design and develop new capabilities in a suite of Logical network inventory products for Telstra’s Global Networks and Technology group to take to market. This role is an important contributor in ensuring that the future products and service enhancements/changes are successfully delivered within Telstra’s logical inventory applications.

This is how you bring the purpose of your role to life:

• Understand the product experience and elicit business requirements, then conceptualise and establish the detailed design for the capabilities.
• Deliver Telstra standards-compliant, quality design documents to achieve product and business outcomes.
• Be an expert in designing capabilities for logical network inventory products, collaborate with scrum team to deliver capabilities in your mission enabled by a good understanding of Telstra systems, processes, and reference architecture.
• Actively engage with stakeholders, business analysts, solution architects, developers, testers, Product Owners, and Product Managers to ensure alignment of the services and solution.
• Develop and elaborate solutions with detailed sequence flows for various service/API operations.
• Design, build, install, integrate and maintain multiple complex network technologies, platforms and/or systems ensuring their interaction with Telstra processes and systems to deliver products and services to customer business units.
• Translate customer needs and requirements, using technical principles into realisable products, services, or systems and/or networks infrastructure to ensure operational capability to deliver customer service.
• Assess capability of vendor solutions and offerings to meet business requirements and manage vendor technology delivery
• Make technology investment and business asset recommendations and assessments based on extensive knowledge of new and emerging technologies.
• Develop platform specific technology roadmaps that leverage opportunities from evolving and future technologies.

Qualifications:

• Experience of working with consulting / services provider firms consulting / services provider firms in the Fiber Network Strategy & Architecture, Fiber Network Rollout and Design
• Understanding of Telecom Fixed & wireless terminology in network/service design, service modelling, network inventory etc.
• Adept at understanding business requirements, use case modelling & design, technical requirements, validating against business needs and provide technical and domain solution designs.
• Ability to lead various projects simultaneously & exhibits good analytical skills during problem solving, and creating satisfied stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, quickly grasp and master new concepts and technologies and value teamwork.
• Sound analytical skills, good at multi-tasking, prioritizing work and adapting to changes.
• Ability to present and influence stakeholders and contribute to mission goals to be able to deliver products and services faster to the market.
• Keen interest to learn new tools and able to quickly adapt to using new tooling.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders from a diverse range of Telstra organisations.
• Previous experience with complex composite services spanning multiple domains delivering an end-to-end outcome for Product/Customer
• API gateway concepts, REST based APIs exposure and consumption
• Be able to contribute to E2E architecture Design from telecom OSS & Networks and drive initiatives to implement technical governance, perform code reviews and reduce technical debt.
• Experience in Agile software delivery and DevOps
