Job Description

Role purpose:

The role of the Senior DevOps Engineer is to support a wide range of activities across multiple territories and time zones.  This role sits within the Managed Services team. The candidate needs to have an appreciation for time-critical problem solving and non-movable project timeframes. The successful candidate will own the automation and optimisation of the delivery and assurance processes used in our managed services.

How the role contributes to business strategy:        

This role is a core contributor to Telstra’s managed service capability and should demonstrate technical expertise to assist the on-going support and growth of managed services. The successful candidate will have demonstratable experience of working dev ops roles, delivering automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Subject Matter Expert for dev ops and automation.

Design, development and launch of capabilities and systems used to automate delivery and assurance processes

Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders.

Ensure services are operated in accordance with security and compliancy regulations (including ISO 27001 and GDPR)

Keep up to date with industry developments and help turn these into Telstra capabilities.

Skill/Technical Expertise:

Investigating the needs of the end user             

Empathising with the internal and external customer to develop a deep understanding of their needs, behaviours and goals and synthesising research to generate insights and recommendations

Designing Automation solutions

Design and deliver the solutions and processes to automate delivery and automation tasks

Support

Installing, configuring, and supporting network and security equipment and resolving problems

Collaborating globally 

Consistently delivering a simple and high-quality customer experience by collaborating and integrating with others from across our Enterprise             

Stakeholder management       

Identifying and managing key stakeholders to gain their support and deliver outcomes

Qualifications :

At least 5 years’ experience in scripting and automation

Azure DevOps , IaC

CI/CD Pipelines

Terraform

Ansible

Python

Github

Comfortable working with Windows and Linux CLI environments.

Strong communication skills, able to explain technical solutions to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Excellent inter-personal skills

Specific under-graduate qualifications i.e engineering, computer science

High desirable

Knowledge of Network and security services

Knowledge of Cloud, Hybrid, Server & Network Infrastructure.

Knowledge of QL concepts, Log search QL, Splunk, ELK or similar.

Knowledge of SQL, 1nf, 2nf, and 3nf, Relational DB concepts.

Knowledge of Virtualization concepts.

Knowledge of REST API concepts, postman and Web browser developer tool.

Experience with Bash scripting, ssh, cron, tcp/ip.

Knowledge of or experience with Terraform fortimanager, fortianalyzer, azurerm providers.

Knowledge of or experience with web development framework, Django or similar.

Certifications

At least 1 public cloud certification (e.g. Microsoft Azure Fundamentals)

At least 1 other technical/Vendor certification in relevant technologies (e.g. Palo PCNSE)
