Job Description

  

Summary

Plans, develops, and conducts tests on software components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications by performing the following duties. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Designing, documenting, and executing test cases/scripts to ensure software quality and identify defects. This can include unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
  • Analyzing and reporting on test results. Identifying root causes of defects.
  • Logging bugs in tracking systems like JIRA.
  • Reviewing product specifications and technical design documents to provide QA feedback and perspective during development.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation like test plans, test cases, checklists, etc.
  • Performing regression testing to ensure that new code changes do not adversely affect existing functionalities.
  • Performing and documenting end-to-end integration test scenarios in lab environments mimicking the actual product use cases.
  • Automating tests by writing scripts to test software more efficiently.
  • Coordinating QA activities like reviews, inspections, walkthroughs to validate software quality according to process.
  • Estimating testing time and resource needs. Tracking key QA metrics like defects found, open defects, test coverage, etc.
  • Coordinating with different teams like development, product management, operations during various phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Quality Metrics: Analyzing test results and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Staying up to date on QA best practices and tools like Selenium, JMeter, etc

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 5-10 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

                                                 

Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:   Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and other applications relevant to this position.

  

Salary Range:

$89,100.00-$120,230.000

Pay Transparency

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
