Position Overview:

The Project Manager I independently manages smaller, more complex projects and supports senior project managers in larger projects and management of top tier customers. This role involves developing project plans, monitoring progress, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.

The role of a Project Manager I is to plan, execute and finalize projects according to deadlines. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third parties to deliver projects according to plan. The process begins with a request for proposal and ends with shipment and invoice of the product to the customer.  The scope of effort covers order entry, engineering design, document release, planning, manufacturing, QA and shipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage at least 1 key business account.

  • Development of project plans and schedules.

  • Monitor project progress and report on status.

  • Identify and manage project risks and issues.

  • Coordinate meetings and communicate with stakeholders.

  • Manage all internal and external interfaces during project execution.

  • Conduct project lessons learned and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with project execution and operations teams.

  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

  • Track project milestones and deliverables.

  • Support production planning monthly revenue goals.

  • Support master scheduling effort to identify manufacturing window.

  • Ensure long lead items are ordered.  This may involve partial releases or other manual processes.

  • Advise manager if additional support is required to complete the quoting effort. Coordination with the Quoting department to ensure all requests for quotes (RFQs) are completed in a timely manner.  Advise manager if additional support is required to complete the quoting effort.

  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.

  • Coordinate, as required, client visits, project reviews, Pre-production Meetings (PPM’s) and Kick Off Meetings (KOM’s).

  • Support Account Management functions (Account Management’s primary focus is aligning the customer’s & business long term strategic direction).  Communicate all issues across organizational boundaries to assure client satisfaction.

Education and Experience:

  • BS degree preferred.  Related work experience will be considered.

  • Some experience in Project Management environment working around high value projects, including contract project scheduling and monitoring, decision making and coordination across functional areas.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical aptitude is desired but not essential.

  • Highly organized.

  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals.

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment; able to change direction, remain flexible and respond.

  • Problem solving.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.  A “can-do” attitude.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, MS Project, and Internet.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Professional appearance and working demeanor.
