Position Details     

Salary Range: $80,000-$105,000 annually. This is a full-time exempt position.   

The development work can be performed at various locations, including remotely or at the company offices in Utica and Rome, NY. For the right candidate, a 100% remote work arrangement is possible.

Responsibilities and Duties   

The successful candidate will support our Web Based Research Intelligence Software Product Line.  This role will be on the ground floor of developing a social media-themed web application to create a research intelligence software platform. Research Intelligence (RI) will enable discovery and reasoning over market data, to allow for informed decision-making for our customers. This candidate will contribute, and document throughout the Software Development Lifecycle, including:   

• Designs and develops a new web application in a team setting, for a new market need 
• Designs software solutions, algorithms, and cloud architectures needed to satisfy product features and functionality defined by product owner and other stakeholders 
• Contributes to all phases of the software development life cycle including functional analysis, development of technical requirements, technical design, prototyping, coding, testing, deployment, data migration, and support 
• Participates in daily scrums, and works with the scrum master on projects to support delivery timelines and priorities  
• Organizes and prioritizes team workload with scrum team through story-pointing    
• Perform unit testing and debugging to identify and fix software defects.
• Contribute to code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve skills and knowledge. 

 

Education and Certifications:   

Many of our projects require graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer programming, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. We will consider candidates with associate degrees or certificates in the areas listed above in combination with experience. 

 

Required Qualifications:   

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience or 1 year of experience and a master's degree
• Experience in three or more of the following languages is required: Java, JavaScript, Python, React, Go, Rust 
• Experience with Front End development (JavaScript, React, Angular, etc) 
• Experience in web app development 
• Experience in with graph databases, such as Neo4J, or similar
• Experience in either Linux or Microsoft Windows platforms    
• Experience in server-side development (API definitions, REST services, etc.)    
• Experience with Automated Testing (JUnit, Jest, Cypress, etc.)    
• Experience with source code control systems, such as git 
• Experience with Agile software development techniques and leading one or more tasks to completion    
• Experience of command-line environments    
• Solid understanding of software development principles, data structures, and algorithms. 
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. 
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

 Desired Qualifications:   

• Knowledge of Go, Typescript 
• Knowledge or experience in cloud-based computing platforms such as AWS 
• Knowledge or experience in containerization technologies and deployment frameworks like Kubernetes or Docker   
• Knowledge of Continuous Delivery / Continuous Integration (DevSecOps, GitLab Pipelines, etc.)    

  

Clearance:   

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for, at minimum, Secret access to classified information.    

   

Travel:   

This position is not expected to require travel.
