What we’re looking for

Tarteel is looking for an engineer that will help us serve the next 100M+ Muslims seeking to improve their recitation of the Quran around the world. To achieve this goal, our backend systems must be reliable, scalable, and highly performant. Our backend stack is composed of Django (Python) and Node.js, and we need someone who can help us both improve our existing codebase, as well as build new features to meet the needs of both our customers and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python (Django), Node.js (WebSockets, TypeScript), and SQL.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.

• Complete small to medium features with technical guidance from senior engineers.

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices.

• Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.

• Participate in code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and product quality.

Qualifications

• Currently studying Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 1+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development

• Knowledge of TypeScript (or JavaScript), with relevant experience using backend JS frameworks (ex. Express, uWebSockets)

• Knowledge of Python, with relevant experience using backend Python frameworks (ex. FastAPI, Django, Flask)

  • Experience with Django is a plus

• Solid knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git)

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

You must also be enrolled in a post-secondary co-operative education program.
