Within Target the 'Business Partner & Negotiations' organizaton is responsible for building secure plaLorm for onboarding business partners, creating vendor income contracts and tracking vendor performance. This is critical to Target’s profitability. A whole host of products are being evolved to build the next generation of Vendor engagement with Target.

Team Overview:

The 'Business Partner & Negotiations' team owns the platform to create and manage vendor data for Target. The vendors are spread in 88+ countries with 110,000 users accessing the platform. This engineering team is responsible for building capabilities to capture and manage vendor data at scale which includes data for legal, compliance, finance, negotiation, chargeback, planning and supply chain activities used by 250+ teams across the enterprise. The team leverages state-of-the-art AI capabilities to streamline processes and bring operational efficiency. We build solutions for Target that directly impact the revenue of the organization. Doing it at scale requires a high performance team with highly skilled engineers working together to build a world class product.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You will use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target’s technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level. Participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met. Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues.

Technical skills: Java, SpringBoot, Micro services, API development, React.JS, Postgres, MongoDB, NoSQL, Kaca, Redis, Docker, CICD or similar tech stack to build the platform.

About You:

  • Expert knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, software design & architecture.

  • Expertise in architectural and design patterns, engineering practices and holding the highest levels of standards in Observability, Testing, Documentation, Logging etc

  • Experience with object oriented and/or functional programming paradigm, design pattern, testing pattern and proficiency in Java.

  • Deliver high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact.

  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.

  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self- directed education.

  • Work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.

  • Review team member's work and share knowledge.

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

  • Excellent communication skills, stakeholder management and building the circle of

    influence

  • Work seamlessly across Product, Engineering, UX, Data Sciences and Business teams.
