The pay range is $144,400.00 - $259,900.00

The Target Plus team is looking for a collaborative and energetic team leader with a track record of driving results, exceeding sales goals, and building high performing teams.  This is an ideal position for an individual who is performance-motivated, excels at nimble and creative problem-solving, and is comfortable navigating through complex and ambiguous initiatives.  Within Target Plus, the Category Management team is responsible for identifying, building, and executing third party assortment plans that capitalize on industry growth opportunities, complementing our first party business. This leader is responsible for forecasting and nurturing all pyramid-specific, existing partner business growth for the marketplace. 

As a Director Category Management, Target Plus, you will oversee a team of senior category managers and set the tone for what it means for partners to build their business with Target Plus.  You set the process, structure, forecast and strategy for existing business growth within Target Plus.  This Director role will collaborate heavily across the enterprise to implement processes and strategies to deliver growth on the Target Plus marketplace platform.

Primary responsibilities of this Director role include:

Business, Assortment and Vendor Management:

  • Work cross-functionally across Target Plus and the Target Enterprise to define, build and implement strategies that will drive revenue growth.

  • Build a deep understanding of the digital marketplace landscape and value propositions for brands and sellers to keep Target Plus competitive.

  • Ownership of Strategic and Preferred partner tier relationship management. Actively participate in partner meetings with your team, providing leadership in the filed and establishing leader presence in market.

  • Develop annual and long-range financial plans, accountable for monthly, quarterly, and annual forecast and goal performance.

  • Oversight of OKR development, business KPIs and action driven outcomes to deliver KPI goals.

  • Oversight of online experiences to drive brand and category performance including escalation of vendor needs.

Enterprise Merchandising and Product Alignment:

  • Collaborate across the team to advance the vision and strategy of our merchandising relationships and assortment architecture, including participation in the enterprise round table and engagement in annual enterprise assortment planning processes and translation into digital channel planning.

  • Strategic development and alignment of vendor promotional strategy.

  • Prioritize and represent technology needs with Product teams to build scale and capacity to fuel the business.

  • Attend joint strategy and prioritization planning sessions with key Digital partners including: Partner Acquisition, Onboarding, Site Experience, Data Analytics, Support and Performance, Partner Services, Product.

Team Leadership:

  • Evolve and drive improvements in business and vendor experience through best practice enhancements, process refinements, routines and KPI evolution that allow your team to deliver financial and operational goals.

  • Build, lead, and develop a talented team of globally located team members by setting priorities at the team and individual level and actively coaching and managing individual performance.

  • Inspire your team by setting clear direction and accountability for activity that drives revenue as well as strong partner value and loyalty.

  • Champion for best-in-industry relationship development with external partners including vendors and brands.

This position is a key leadership role for a growing organization, reporting to the VP Digital Partnerships and New Business for Target Plus. The exciting part of retail? It’s always changing! Required Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant work experience in digital marketplaces, sales, contracts and negotiations, or business development roles.

  • 4+ years leading, developing, and coaching a team with direct reports

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work in an agile environment similar to a startup.

  • Experience successfully managing assortment strategies across a wide pipeline of external vendors and/or business partners preferred

  • Expertise in navigating merchandising relationships including facilitating assortment strategy, financial plans, and operational routines.  Strong decision-making skills.

  • Experience working with 3P vendors in a retail marketplace eco-system.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including strategic planning, storytelling, presentations, and relationship development.

  • Strong project management skills preferred

  • Site Merchandising skills preferred

  • Understanding of or experience with technical platforms, Item systems, and SalesForce preferred

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.  A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.  A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
