Launched in 2019, Taptap is tapping into a transformative shift in global finance: from banks to phones. The Role
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team and guide the evolution of our backend systems as we scale. For us, this isn’t just about technical performance, but also supporting the internal human processes that will always power much of our product. You will work closely with Product, Operations, Customer Support, Growth and other functions to design and build out a reliable, performant, and secure platform for handling remittances across countries.
Taptap Send is a cross-platform mobile app developed with React Native and TypeScript, which talks to a backend service written in Kotlin and backed by PostgreSQL and redis, all of which runs on AWS and is managed via Terraform. We expect a person in this role to vertically own a solution and work across as much of our platform as possible.

Requirements
- 8+ years of full-time software development experience, or equivalent
- Experience working in JVM languages (Java/Kotlin) and familiarity with managing/improving build systems
- Experience working on systems that have real-world performance and reliability constraints
- Experience with query optimization, database tuning, message brokers, and/or caching
Nice to have
- Experience working with Infrastructure as Code technologies like Terraform
- Experience with Data Engineering concepts and workflows
- Former roles as Staff / Principal Engineer in companies our size
