As a Software Engineer II at Tanium, you will take part of a brand new project focused on building a new data hub that will be using LLM tooling. You'll also be collaborating with cross-functional teams and play a key role in ensuring our services meet the highest standards of performance, security, and scalability. 

What you’ll do

• Work with large data sets that will impact all other teams at Tanium, work with big data  
• Build a high-performance data platform capable of handling large volumes of data in real time
• Be part of a new initiative to build confidence scores and data anonymization
• Work with various server-side technologies, persistent data stores, caches, and messaging systems
• Create automated unit tests, API tests, integration tests, and ensure quality delivery
• Author technical documentation and artifacts for the developed software 

We’re looking for someone with

• Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• CS Degree or related technical field preferred
  
  
• Experience
• Must be able to obtain FederalRAMP clearance at a minimum 
• 2+ years industry experience
• Experience building high-impact, high-performance, secure, scalable, observable, supportable, and maintainable backend services and APIs
• Significant knowledge of at least one of the following: Golang (preferred), Node.js, Java, or Rust
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Experience with modern software engineering development and automation tools like git and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with containers and microservices is a plus
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi) 
• Experience with container orchestration solutions (Kubernetes, Nomad, Mesos)
• Demonstrates sound judgment for balancing between rapid development, long-term code maintainability and supportability
• Believes in the power of and the need for writing automated tests as part of development
• Comfortable debugging yours and others’ code in production environments
• Has knowledge of a variety of modern backend software frameworks and the versatility to learn new tools and languages

What you’ll get

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000 to $190,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training and experience.
