What is Taboola News?

Taboola News is the largest content discovery system in the world. It is a relatively new product for Taboola, but has already launched and is running globally in more than 50 markets, with some of the leading OEMs in the world.

The Taboola News team is required to have the highest level of technical knowledge, due to the low maturity of the product, the high volume  of traffic and our premium customers using Taboola News require top of the line service.

What is the key purpose of a Field Engineer? 

As a Field Engineer- QA based in our Beijing office you will work with our premium OEMs, supporting operations for Taboola News custom products. Field engineers are skilled and technically competent members of the Taboola News Technical Account Team and must have hands-on experience in web and native mobile development (android), and act as a knowledge-hub to actively deliver exceptional support services to our global Customers.

What skills and qualifications do I need?

• Have a BSc. in tech oriented field or equivalent experience, 1-3 years related experience.
• 1+ years of experience with creating test plan/designing test cases/ executing test for the Android Apps.
• Have experience of testing network related issues, such as using the Charles to verify/identify network related issues.
• It will be a plus having experience with testing performance of the mobile application, such as battery consumption, data usage, memory footprint.
• It will be a plus having the experience for flashing Android devices with the different chipsets. 
• Have experience in global integration projects (involving Client-Server, Server-Server integrations) including internal and external stakeholders from R&D and Product Management teams.
• Have the ability to understand a large complex product architecture, involving both client and back end components.
• Have experience providing excellent service to customers, preferably in a technical role.
• Have strong communication skills in English – both written and spoken.

What will I be doing on a day-to day today basis?

As a Field Engineer, you will: 

• Be part of Taboola News product QA process
• Day to day communication with OEM’s QA/Product team to be the first point of issues found from OEM side
• Owner of sanity testing before the APK/server changes be passed to the internal QA/RnD team. 
• Be responsible for signing off the regression test if the changes are not related to the internal team. 
• Troubleshoot complex web and backend technology issues with excellent communication skills.  
• Works closely with various teams within the company, including RnD engineers and other various business units.
