DevOps Intern

Department: Infrastructure

Employment Type: Internship

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, KSA

About the company

Tabby builds financial products used by millions of users across the GCC. Our services run on large-scale cloud infrastructure and must meet strict requirements for reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.

This internship is not educational by default. It is an engineering role with real responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Context

DevOps engineers at Tabby work on the runtime and development platforms that power all product teams. This includes cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and security foundations.

The internship is designed for strong early-career engineers who want to grow as infrastructure and platform engineers. Interns are embedded into real DevOps teams, work with production systems, and are expected to meet engineering standards from day one.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

What you will do

This is not a helper role. Interns work on real production tasks under senior review.
  • Work with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes-based platforms
  • Help automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Assist in improving observability, monitoring, and alerting
  • Participate in incident analysis and postmortems
  • Work with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management
  • Help improve reliability, scalability, and security of systems
  • Read and understand existing platform architecture and tooling

Required

  • Strong fundamentals in Linux and operating systems
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS)
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes concepts
  • Ability to read and understand infrastructure and service configurations
  • Basic scripting or programming skills
  • Experience with Git and standard development workflows
  • Structured thinking and attention to reliability
  • Open to constructive feedback
  • English sufficient for documentation and team communication

Strong plus

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with any public cloud (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Basic understanding of observability and monitoring
  • Interest in security, reliability, and platform engineering

What we do not expect

  • Expert-level knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, or any specific cloud platform
  • Prior professional DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering experience
  • Mastery of all listed tools, IaC frameworks, or CI/CD systems
  • Deep knowledge of distributed systems, networking internals, or production reliability practices

Eligibility

  • Saudi nationals only
  • Self-funded internship by Tabby
  • We welcome both current students and fresh grads
  • We expect a full-time level of engagement throughout the internship. The program is not part-time: interns should be ready to contribute at a full working-day pace. We understand that students may occasionally need flexibility for classes or exams, which can be aligned with the mentor in advance, but overall performance, ownership, and context involvement are expected at a full-time level.

Format

  • Paid internship
  • Full integration into an engineering team
  • Distributed engineering team across multiple countries
  • Open to Saudi nationals (Saudi passport required); location flexible — candidates may be based outside KSA
