Job OverviewThe Principal Data Scientist at T-Mobile is instrumental in leading and mentoring a team of data scientists to drive the development of innovative data science solutions. This role is crucial in managing data science projects from inception to completion, ensuring the application of advanced analytical techniques to solve complex business challenges. By designing and implementing algorithms in data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, the Principal Data Scientist enhances T-Mobile's capabilities in predictive analytics and decision-making. Collaborating with various stakeholders, they translate data-driven insights into strategic actions that support T-Mobile's business objectives. Ultimately, their expertise and leadership significantly contribute to maintaining T-Mobile's position as a leader in the telecommunications industry
Responsibilities:
Leads and mentors a team of data scientists in the development of data science solutions
Manages data science projects from inception to completion, applying advanced analytical techniques
Designs and implements algorithms in data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
Enhances the company's capabilities in predictive analytics and decision-making
Collaborates with various stakeholders to translate data-driven insights into strategic actions
Contributes to maintaining the company's position as a leader in the telecommunications industry
Participates in other duties or projects as assigned by business management as needed
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
7+ years proven experience in predictive modeling, data science, and analysis in an ML engineer or data scientist role building and deploying ML models or hands on experience developing deep learning models
4+ years demonstrated ability writing and speaking about technical concepts to business, technical, and lay audiences and giving data-driven presentations while articulating and translating business questions and using statistical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data
4+ years experience with data querying, wrangling, cleaning, and feature engineering in big data environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
4+ years experience in deploying data mining, visualization, and machine learning solutions using tools like Python, R, SAS in big data environments
Proficiency in SQL for complex data querying and management.
Expertise in designing and implementing algorithms for predictive analytics and decision-making.
Ability to lead and mentor a team of data scientists, driving project completion and innovation.
Proficiency in applying machine learning techniques to solve complex business challenges.
Skilled in managing data science projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Capability to translate data-driven insights into strategic actions that support business objectives.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Quantitative Subject area (math, statistics, economics, computer science, physics, engineering)
Master's/Advanced Degree Quantitative Discipline (math, statistics, economics, computer science, physics, engineering) (Preferred)

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
