Our challenge

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Oracle Database Specialist to lead the design, architecture, and performance optimization of enterprise-scale Oracle database environments supporting high-volume OLTP systems. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in database modernization initiatives, migration projects, and ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance across mission-critical applications.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Dallas, TX/Pittsburgh, PA is $115k - $125k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design and define Oracle database architecture and schema design for high-volume OLTP environments.
  • Establish and maintain database scalability, reliability, and performance standards.
  • Lead database modernization and migration initiatives, including upgrades and cloud or infrastructure transitions.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable database solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to offshore and distributed teams.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in database security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Troubleshoot complex database issues and implement proactive solutions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to database architecture and standards.

Requirements:

  • Experienced in working with Oracle Database technologies.
  • Strong expertise in Oracle database architecture, schema design, and performance tuning.
  • Experience supporting high-volume OLTP systems.
  • Hands-on experience with database migration, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database performance diagnostics tools.
  • Experience collaborating with offshore teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and high availability architectures.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or OCI) for database deployments.
  • Experience with automation, monitoring tools, and DevOps practices.
  • Oracle certifications are a plus.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration and mentoring abilities.
