Reliability and Observability Engineer role reports into Technology team which is the backbone of our Organization, driving innovation, efficiency and reliability across all digital and operational platforms. Role Summary/ Purpose:
The AVP, Reliability and Observability Engineer will be responsible for improving the reliability, performance and availability of Infrastructure services. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining scalable infrastructure, automating operational tasks, and responding to incidents to minimize downtime. This position also focuses on building and maintaining tools and frameworks for monitoring, logging and alerting across the infrastructure and application layers. The candidate will possess a deep understanding of monitoring systems, incident response strategies and performance optimization techniques, ensuring services meet high standards of availability and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain scalable, highly available infrastructure in cloud and on-prem environments
Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, Ansible or similar technologies
Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems - NewRelic, Grafana, Prometheus
Improve availability and performance for applications and infrastructure using observability tools
Participate in troubleshooting and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for critical incidents
Automate repetitive tasks to improve operational efficiency
Optimize resource utilization to reduce costs while maintaining performance
Work closely with infrastructure teams to implement DevOps best practices
Assist in the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines
Implement and maintain security best practices in the infrastructure
Ensure systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum 6+ years of Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience or in lieu of a degree 8 + Years of relevant experience
5+ years of experience with cloud platforms - AWS, Azure and GCP. Cloud certifications preferred.
Knowledge of system architecture, understanding of distributed systems, familiarity with DevOps practices
Expertise in infrastructure automation tools - Terraform, Ansible, Chef
Proficiency in scripting/programming languages - Python, Ruby, Bash
Understanding of Linux/Unix and Windows systems and networking fundamentals
Experience with monitoring, logging and alerting tools - NewRelic, Splunk, PagerDuty, Grafana, Prometheus
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration - Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes
Knowledge of database administration and optimization

Experience working with cross regional teams around the globe
Running core operations, strategic planning, organizational communications, development programs and Project to Support process

Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and work in a remote environment
Work Timings : 02:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
