Organizational Overview:
The Software Engineer II is part of the Synchrony Credit Engineering team and will be responsible for development of robust & high performance applications and support of microservices .The candidate would have an engineering position focused on delivering robust Applications for Fico DMP, efficient supporting processes, & comprehensive automation capabilities to protect & enable synchrony’s Public Cloud migration strategy at scale. The candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of Java ,RDBMS .
 

Role Summary/Purpose:
A Software Engineer II role will be responsible for software development of robust & high performance applications and support of microservices and big data applications. The ideal candidate would be part of a major technology transformation team responsible for moving towards cloud platform in micro services architecture using Spring Frameworks, in memory data grid, responsive design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for implementing software components of highly available, scalable, and robust cloud services.

• Work closely with architects and technical product managers to translate overall system architecture and product requirements into well-designed and implemented software components.

• Analyzing and disintegrating software systems and coordinating with other teams to enhance the overall design.

• Take ownership of the implementation of individual software components, with high emphasis on quality, test-driven development, and sound software engineering practices.

• Participate in software design reviews, you conduct peer code reviews, and provide input and feedback to other members of the development team.

• Handling technical communications and understanding the customers' systems.

• Write unit, functional, regression tests for the code you create, and you contribute to the test automation, continuous integration and deployment processes together with everyone else in the development team.

• Working with stake holders, resolving level issues for systems, coordinating on product design, and offering inputs on the testability of functional elements and product designs.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Graduation in Computer Science / other technical degree with 2+ years of IT experience or in lieu of degree, 4+ years of IT experience.

• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience on Java and JEE technologies including frameworks like Spring 3.x, Spring cloud and AWS.

• Minimum 2+ years experience in Big Data technologies and stream processing (e.g. Kafka etc.)

• Minimum 2+ years in teams applying modern agile software development practices

• Experience in Oracle database , MYSQL and MongoDB with good understanding of RDBMS

• Good Knowledge on Docker and Kubernetes.

• Ability to work with Maven, ECLIPSE/STS, GIT, Jenkins and other similar technologies.

• Good understanding of SDLC processes (waterfall and Agile) and release management processes

• Willing to work flexible shift timings to be able to respond to emergencies

• Superior oral and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Good knowledge in Banking domain and having knowledge on Hashicorp will be extra add on .

Eligibility Criteria:
Graduation in Computer Science / other technical degree with 2+ years of IT experience or in lieu of degree, 4+ years of IT experience.

Work Timings:
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
