Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the SUSE AI Engineering team, where you’ll be at the forefront of AI innovation. We are developing an open platform designed to run and manage AI workloads, enabling enterprises to operate securely, reliably, and at scale. As part of this dynamic team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the future of AI technology.

Who are you?

We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Engineer who is passionate about Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs). You are driven by the desire to build solutions that simplify the adoption of these technologies for enterprises. You thrive on challenges, consistently delivering innovative solutions that transform raw prototypes into enterprise-grade products and services. Your ability to quickly enhance and refine your work is what sets you apart.

As a strong advocate for open source, you believe in the value it brings to enterprises. You have hands-on experience with open-source development, a passion for engaging with the community, and a proven track record of collaborating across teams and disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain software packages (RPM, Container, Helm charts, etc.) in alignment with SUSE’s development standards.

• Streamline and automate existing processes to increase velocity and improve quality.

• Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in software building and packaging ecosystems, adopting new DevOps, Secure Software Supply Chain frameworks, tools, and techniques.

• Implement rigorous testing, monitoring, and security practices to ensure solutions meet the highest quality standards.

• Participate in design meetings, architecture sessions, and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards.

Knowledge and Skills:

• 5+ years in the development and/or deployment of Linux based products.

• Good knowledge and experience with popular Linux distributions such as SUSE Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL etc.

• Proficiency in building software packages for various platforms and architectures, with a strong passion for automation and have an automation-first mindset. 

• In-depth understanding of Python ecosystem specifically its build and packaging tool chains.

• Adept at implementing best practices for building RPMs, Container images, and Helm charts.

• Familiarity with Open Build Service (https://openbuildservice.org/) is a big plus.

• Strong experience with Source Code Management systems such as GitHub and GitLab, along with CI/CD pipelines. 

• Expertise with Linux Containers and Kubernetes.

• Expertise working in on-prem, bare metal and cloud environments.

• A collaborative mindset with a proven ability to work across diverse teams and disciplines.

• Exceptional communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences inside and outside the company.
