Business Unit Overview

Our Operations unit is the engine room of Superloop - responsible for maintaining and supporting all of our products and internal technical infrastructure to ensure the best possible service to both our customers and our very own business. Our Operations unit is responsible for ensuring that the business has the technical capability and capacity to deliver services to all Superloop customers ranging from Home Broadband to International Wholesale.

Role Purpose

The primary goal of the Senior Optical Network Engineer is to ensure the smooth operation of the Superloop network to provide maximum performance and availability to all customers. The Network Engineer is responsible for building, supporting, and maintaining all devices and services within Superloop’s global network.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing of Superloop’s Optical network infrastructure.

• Proactively monitoring Optical network performance.

• Troubleshooting network faults, resolving escalated Optical network issues.

• Adhering to all network security standards.

• Managing and maintaining Optical network documentation and inventory.

• Collaborating with other business units where required.

• Maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and best practices.

• Adhering to all company policies.

Qualifications and Experience

• You are a highly experienced and detail-oriented Optical Network Engineer with a strong background in designing, implementing, and operating carrier-grade optical transport networks. You thrive in complex network environments and are passionate about emerging technologies such as DWDM, ROADMs, coherent modulation, and network automation.

• You bring deep knowledge of long-haul, metro, and subsea transmission systems, and a strong track record in troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance optimization. As a senior team member, you are contributing to architectural decisions, and working cross-functionally with vendors, NOC, project managers, and field teams.

• You’re comfortable with vendor platforms such as Ciena, Cisco and PacketLight, and can interpret link budgets, optical power levels, and OSNR thresholds.

• You have scripting or automation experience and understand the importance of building networks that are scalable, reliable, and observable.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, operations and maintenance of Coherent Muxponders, Fixed grid multiplexers, ROADM’s, Optical Protection switches, EDFA line amplifiers and submarine Line Terminal Equipment.
