Job Description:

As an experienced Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the execution of intermediate to complex projects working in partnership with Digital Enterprise Journey/Platform teams, Business and Enterprise Services (IT) to deliver fully integrated initiatives as part of the Sun Life Global Investments business unit.

 
What will you do?

• Manage all phases of the project from initiation through to planning, execution and closure while leveraging Project Management methodology, best practice standards and processes for both Agile and Waterfall initiatives

• Manage stakeholders to ensure that project delivery expectations are clearly identified, articulated and met

• Coordinate execution with Agile delivery teams where applicable based on initiative scope

• Drive project execution and ensure project deliverables meet/exceed project sponsor expectations

• Effectively manage project processes and communications including: meetings, status updates, risks/issue identification and resolution

• Develop project plans that effectively align scope, time, cost, quality, resources, risk, communication and procurement

• Develop and implement effective project reporting dashboard and metrics

• Effectively motivate and manage project teams

• As required, works with Business Stakeholders to provide support and lead consultative engagements on behalf of the business for strategic bodies of work to shape business recommendations and requirements

What do you need to succeed?

• Overall PM experience of 5+ years at an intermediate/senior level with proven results

• Strong knowledge and experience of Project Management practices, tools and methodologies both Agile and Waterfall

• Proven experience leading and managing medium to large, complex projects focused on business outcomes and spanning across multiple delivery teams/models

• Consultative and Business Analysis skills

• Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

• Results oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize across a wide range of tasks

• Demonstrated efficiency in facilitating a wide range of stakeholder groups with excellent communication and presentation skills

• Effective negotiation skills

• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, or shared services organizational model

• Strong relationship management skills with demonstrated ability to influence others successfully

• Demonstrated ability to work with MS Office tools including MS Project to develop project management artifacts

• High tolerance for change and ambiguity

Education and Training:

• PMP certification or equivalent preferred

• Working knowledge of Agile practices preferred

• University degree or equivalent

• Experience in Investments and financial services industry

Notes/Unique Requirements:

• Some travel between Toronto, Waterloo, Montreal offices may be required

• Ability to manage a flexible work schedule

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
