Senior Backend Engineer at SumUp (Brazil Market)

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver business value by building scalable, reliable solutions that millions of users depend on every day,
  • Participate in code reviews and pair programming to improve code quality and knowledge sharing
  • Continuously adopt and promote best practices within the team, focusing on high-performance and fault-tolerant distributed systems,
  • Collaborate with software developers, QAs, DevOps engineers, designers, product managers, and other key stakeholders to design and implement backend services and APIs,
  • Ensure smooth deployments, continuous integration, and support existing functionalities,
  • Provide comprehensive documentation and maintain high test coverage,
  • Actively contribute to tool and technology selection, driving backend-related discussions and decisions.

You’ll Be Great for This Role If:

  • You have solid backend experience and a deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns and application design,
  • You are experienced in API design (RESTful and event-driven services) and working with both SQL and NoSQL databases,
  • You have strong skills in problem-solving, coding, debugging and optimizing,
  • You are familiar with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, etc.,
  • You enjoy mentoring others and sharing your knowledge,
  • You are passionate about writing clear, concise, and testable code that can be easily understood and maintained by your team.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, 
  • Familiarity with event streaming platforms and messaging brokers such as Kafka and RabbitMQ,
  • Experience in the fintech industry.
