Our story goes beyond technology.  We put people first – employees, customers, and partners.  We build strong teams and cultivate relationships that last.  We provide incomparable products, solutions, services, and technical excellence for our customers.  We are a team of over 5,000 colleagues across 70+ countries who value inclusion, integrity, and innovation.  Our size means everyone has an impact and every voice is valued.  We are big enough to compete and small enough to care.

Be you, join us.

Software AG customers around the world have developed business-critical enterprise applications based on Adabas (DBMS) and Natural (Programming Language) to run their core business transactions and processes, e.g., large financial enterprises, government organizations, retailers, and others. Contributing to our long-term customer strategy Adabas & Natural 2050+ to modernize and move core applications into the future.

We are looking for an experienced cloud solution architect that supports our international customers moving and modernizing their Adabas and Natural applications from on-prem platforms to the cloud. Collaborating in a multi-stakeholder environment with multiple Cloud Hyperscalers, Partners, Product Management and R&D engineering, and other departments.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Provide technical leadership to guide and support international Adabas & Natural customers in modernizing and transforming their enterprise applications into a cloud architecture. Resolve complex cloud transformation challenges.

  • Lead the design of cloud architecture blueprints (Azure, AWS, GCP) for Adabas & Natural applications, including the transformation/rehosting from on-prem infrastructures (e.g., Linux, IBM z) to the cloud.

  • Collaborate with cloud Hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, GCP) to jointly engineer and document cloud architectures to provide guidance to customers on how to develop, deploy and run applications environments under mission-critical aspects, such as security, high-availability, recovery, sizing, scalability, and performance.

  • Support customers in cloud rehosting projects on various project phases (assessment, prototype, rehosting, testing, etc.) within a multi stakeholder collaboration environment (e.g., presales, professional services, system integrator, cloud Hyperscalers).

  • Collect and review customer requirements and translate them into features backlogs managed by product management.

  • Mentor and train people on cloud technologies needed to “lift and shift” (rehost) Adabas and Natural applications to the cloud, e.g., presales, professional services, support, sales, partners, customers.

  • Work closely across cross-functional teams (e.g., product management, engineering, solution architects) to drive, coordinate and deliver cloud-readiness capabilities and cross-product architectures.

  • Observe and fully understand relevant cloud market trends and services relevant to transform and operate full-stack enterprise applications in the cloud.

  • Communicate and showcase product cloud capabilities through multiple channels (e.g., Webinars, Events, Social Media, Blogs, Communities/user groups) working closely with product marketing.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional) with strong hands-on experience is highly desirable.

  • 5+ years' experience in architecting, developing and deploying enterprise-class full stack applications to the Cloud (e.g., Adabas & Natural, COBOL). With proven experience in database, application, development (DevOps) and integration (e.g., API, Microservices, Events) technologies.

  • In-depth knowledge and strong experience in Linux scripting, virtual machines and container technologies.

  • Prior experience and deep knowledge in designing and implementing cloud application architectures in context of cloud-native principles.

  • Proven experience in one or more cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and application related cloud services (e.g., virtual machines, container, Kubernetes, networks/gateways, security, file/storage, databases, load balancer, monitoring, availability zones, DevOps).

  • Experience working with cloud Hyperscalers, understanding their offerings, and leveraging their services to enhance cloud architectures and solutions.

  • Extensive hands-on tool knowledge to setup, configure, script, automate, provision, test, run and monitor cloud infrastructures on Linux.

  • Knowledge about DevOps development practices and tool chains (e.g., Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, Git, CI/CD, Jenkins, Jira)

  • Effective communication and presentation skills (verbal, written) in English to convey technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Customer-focused mindset: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with customers and partners, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to troubleshoot and solve complex tasks.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We prioritize job seekers as our customers, unlike bigger job sites, by charging a small fee to provide them with curated access to the best companies and up-to-date jobs. This focus allows us to deliver a more personalized and effective job search experience.
  • Salaries for the engineering jobs on our site range from $100K-$200K. On average, senior engineer positions on our EchoJobs are about $160K.
  • The EchoJobs positions have been sourced and vetted from the top companies to work for in the US as a software engineer, including LinkedIn and other reputable job sites. We also have syndicated jobs from companies that have just raised funding, as well as those that have great unique products and culture. From all of these sources, our founder, Morgan, has also resourced the company's authenticity in terms of their website, public appearance, and more.
  • Yes, our users asked us for just this, so now our search filters allow you to search for your top jobs via location, as well as by onsite, remote, or both. Approximately 30% of our jobs are remote, so you’ve got the best options for you!
  • We have not yet implemented this option, but are considering doing so in the future. For the moment, you would need to cancel your subscription, and resubscribe when you wanted to come back.
  • We add new jobs to EchoJobs every day! We scan our sources for the newest jobs, verify them, and post them to EchoJobs within minutes. We add about 2,000-3,000 new jobs for you each day!
  • From starting your job search to getting hired, the entire job search process can take us software engineers anywhere between 3-6 months. However, at EchoJobs, we’re striving to shorten this duration by finding the best, newest jobs for you, so you can do less job searching, and more applying.
  • We’d recommend checking EchoJobs daily, as we add new jobs to the site each day. Additionally, if you got a chance to read our previous email on “what makes EchoJobs different from any other job search tools,” we also recommended that you set a job alert based on your job filters, so if you get emails on those new jobs, you could be checking more than once per day.
  • If you decide to continue with us after the 1-month trial, we definitely recommend this, as we all know it usually takes 3-6 months to find a quality job as a software engineer these days. So to best support you, we just adjusted our membership options at EchoJobs to monthly, 3 months, or 12 months (this option is more for passive job seekers looking a little bit for the future if they want to come back to work or make a job switch potentially. This lets you see what’s out there in case an even better fit job becomes available.)
  • EchoJobs is truly the only job site of its kind. We want to be THE spot for you to find the best job for you, and haven’t encountered any other company doing this. Other job sites are in niches besides software engineering or focus on a small portion of engineering jobs (like a specific coding language). In the words of Morgan, our founder, “I think what makes EchoJobs different is the amount of jobs, frequency that we add new jobs (we add 2,000-3,000 new jobs daily!), and the powerful search engines to find exactly the job you want more easily and efficiently. We can provide you with the most jobs that are vetted by us, we’ll continually find more new jobs for you, and we make it easier for you to apply and get hired.
