Data Science Project Manager

Strategic Risk Solutions Inc. (SRS), the world's leading independent captive insurance manager, is growing and looking for a Data Science Project Manager to join our Advisors consulting team.

In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of software development and data-driven initiatives within the SRS Data Science team. Working closely with developers, analysts, product leads, and business stakeholders, you will help ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities

Project Planning & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end project planning, including scope definition, resource coordination, scheduling, and delivery tracking.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, status reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while balancing priorities, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in alignment with agreed scope, quality standards, and business objectives.

Agile Leadership & Team Collaboration

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
  • Partner with developers, analysts, product owners, and business stakeholders to support effective project execution.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and transparency across cross-functional teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery and team effectiveness.

Risk Management & Stakeholder Communication

  • Identify project risks, constraints, and dependencies and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders regarding project status, priorities, and key decisions.
  • Ensure alignment between business goals, technical execution, and product requirements.
  • Support change management efforts related to new features, enhancements, and system implementations.

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Maintain organized project documentation, decision logs, risk registers, and project records.
  • Track project metrics and reporting to support informed decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes, delivery practices, and team collaboration.
  • Help establish scalable approaches for managing technology initiatives across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of project management experience within software development, technology, or technical product environments.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience managing projects involving modern software architectures, cloud technologies, APIs, microservices, or similar technical environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and risk management capabilities.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or similar project management certification.
  • Experience supporting data science, analytics, or technology consulting teams.
  • Familiarity with contemporary software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices and delivery frameworks.

Remote within the United States, Alberta or Nova Scotia, Canada.
