The job at a glance  

Join our team and you’ll be responsible for ensuring the delivery team has everything they need to deliver valuable outcomes. You will ensure that the team understands the business needs, challenges and opportunities, and create a culture where the team proactively collaborates to find solutions, self-organise and drive action.

Working in the Commercial Product And Technology business area, as people manager you are responsible for the operational ownership of the system within their business area of your portfolio. As a leader in Tech, you work with other members of the Tech community, such as Staff Engineers and Architects, to support the creation of a thriving engineering culture within your team and support an engineering approach in line with our Technology, cloud/hosting and architecture strategies. And as a role model in the Stepstone Group, you embody the company values and continuously advocate for and on behalf of your team, regularly communicating updates, recognising successes of the team, and promoting the Tech community.

Your responsibilities

  • Technical operational ownership – compliance to NFRs, cost, quality, service delivery and integrity of systems in scope, and People leadership and career development of team members.
  • Communication and Alignment: Facilitate communication and alignment among team members, departments, and stakeholders
  • Decision-Making: Participate in decision-making processes for projects, resources, and technology.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks in engineering project, and Budget Planning and Resource Management; Contribute to budget planning and effectively manage resources.
  • Aligning with the Staff Engineer to drive team focus on engineering health and quality including: quality and technical excellence, security, GDPR, Compliance, Ownership of Products and domains and NFRs.

  • Good Communicator: clearly connects and communicates with developers, product owners, stakeholders, and senior leaders, and Good Collaborator: able to lead by example in collaboration with the team, their support network, and their stakeholders.
  • Emotional Intelligence and Inclusive Mindset: able to communicate reasoning in clear and simple terms to a diverse audience, flexibility to take different viewpoints and experiences, committed to their own personal and professional growth and that of others, behaves with dignity and respect towards everyone.
  • Delivery focused: focuses on the delivery of value efficiently and iteratively and is responsible for fulfilling the team’s commitments.
  • Technology Mindset: Understands the technology ecosystem and SDLC, and can work with it and the team to define technical solutions that support Stepstone to meet its business goals.
