Senior SETA Advisor – Space-Based Environmental Monitoring

Location: Colorado Springs, CO, US

Employment Type: FULL_TIME

Overview

Stellar Solutions, a nationally recognized “Great Place To Work,” delivers engineering solutions across commercial space and national security missions—from innovative new entrants to established space systems organizations.

We bring talented, energetic, and immediately productive professionals to meet critical customer needs in systems engineering and integration, mission operations, program management, and strategic planning—helping teams deliver resilient capability to the mission with speed, quality, and focus.

Stellar Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Senior SETA Advisor to support Government leadership across the Space-Based Environmental Monitoring mission area. This role provides flexible, senior-level technical and programmatic support across complex space and ground programs, helping Government teams identify and resolve issues spanning organizational, engineering, operational, and program boundaries. The ideal candidate brings broad National Security Space experience and the judgment, initiative, and follow-through to operate independently across technical integration, program execution, sustainment, acquisition, and cross-program coordination.

Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

The Senior SETA Advisor will serve as a trusted advisor to Government program and technical leadership, working across organizational and functional boundaries to improve alignment, execution, and mission outcomes. The role requires the ability to move comfortably between technical integration challenges, program execution concerns, contractor coordination, sustainment issues, and Government process or information-management needs while taking ownership of difficult issues and driving them toward practical resolution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Government program and technical leadership supporting Space-Based Environmental Monitoring capabilities.
  • Coordinate across program offices, engineering organizations, operations teams, acquisition functions, Integrated Product Teams, and contractor organizations to improve alignment and execution.
  • Proactively identify technical, programmatic, organizational, integration, and execution issues that cross established program or functional boundaries.
  • Lead or facilitate issue resolution by bringing together appropriate Government, engineering, operational, acquisition, and contractor stakeholders.
  • Support systems engineering activities across the lifecycle, including requirements, interfaces, integration, test, technical baselines, operations, sustainment, modernization, and engineering change.
  • Assess program and technical risks, dependencies, execution concerns, and emerging issues and provide actionable recommendations to Government leadership.
  • Support integrated planning, priorities, schedules, risk management, decision tracking, and cross-program coordination.
  • Establish and improve management rhythms, workflows, standards, and processes that strengthen consistency, accountability, and Government ownership.
  • Support configuration management and technical baseline control, including engineering changes, documentation, contractor deliverables, decision records, and configuration-control processes.
  • Develop and improve digital collaboration and knowledge-management environments using Jira, Confluence, or comparable Government-approved platforms, including repeatable approaches for maintaining program knowledge, decisions, actions, risks, schedules, and authoritative information.
  • Coordinate across multiple contractors and IPTs to align technical, schedule, programmatic, and operational activities.
  • Develop executive briefings, issue papers, assessments, recommendations, status products, and other decision-support materials while identifying opportunities to reduce administrative burden, improve information flow, and standardize execution practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Program Management, Business, Information Systems, or a related technical or management discipline.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, National Security Space, or other complex Government programs.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: systems engineering and integration, program management, acquisition support, mission operations, ground systems, sustainment, configuration management, or technical program execution.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a SETA, Government advisory, program office, FFRDC, or comparable Government-support environment.
  • Experience supporting complex programs involving multiple Government organizations, technical disciplines, contractors, or mission partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues spanning technical, programmatic, organizational, or contractor boundaries.
  • Experience supporting system lifecycle activities such as development, integration, test, operations, sustainment, modernization, or technical baseline management.
  • Ability to work directly with senior Government leadership and translate complex information into clear recommendations and executable actions.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and proactively drive activities with limited oversight.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command, Department of the Air Force, NRO, NGA, NOAA, NASA, or related National Security Space organizations.
  • Experience with Space-Based Environmental Monitoring, Space-Based Weather, remote sensing, GEOINT, tactical sensing, or related space-sensing missions.
  • Familiarity with programs such as EWS, EWS-G, WSF-M, DMSP, or related environmental and weather satellite capabilities.
  • Experience working across space and ground architectures, mission processing, command and control, data systems, or operational environments.
  • Experience supporting Government acquisition programs and coordinating activities across Government and contractor organizations.
  • Familiarity with configuration-management practices, engineering-change processes, technical baselines, and contractor deliverable management.
  • Experience developing or administering Jira, Confluence, or comparable digital collaboration, workflow, or knowledge-management environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile processes, digital engineering practices, integrated schedules, program dashboards, or organizational process improvement.
  • Professional certifications in Systems Engineering, Program Management, Defense Acquisition, Configuration Management, Agile, or related disciplines.

Clearance & Additional Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active TS clearance is required with SCI eligibility.
  • Ability to access U.S.-only data systems and support classified government mission environments is required.
  • Ability to travel to temporary work locations up to 10%, as needed
