Stantec is looking for Civil / structural designer who can contribute and foster the growth of Stantec Resource Net India Private Ltd, Pune by providing technical expertise for Energy & Resources BU in Civil / Structural discipline. The designer (within the Energy & Resources BU of Stantec), plan, design, and deliver engineering projects primarily in utility grade electrical substations, transmission and distribution, power generation sectors. They will also get engaged with O&G, mining, and other heavy industrial process plants as and when required.
A Career Level 3/4 Civil / structural designer carries out engineering assignments of moderate to complex level. Under general supervision and direction of a Lead / regional designer, this role is responsible for a project or part of a project requiring sound knowledge of conceptual design, FEED / outline design, detailed design for substation and transmission and distribution projects.
This role requires providing engineering detailing services such as production of conceptual and detailed drawings, reinforcement and steelwork drawings and associated schedules taking due account of health and safety requirements, designs, specifications & standards pertaining to the contract. Supporting other engineers / designers by providing technical expertise and guidance, assist with preparing proposals and cost estimates and in the process work on self - upskilling, and ensure that project outcomes in terms of schedule, technical and quality standards etc., meet both the client and Stantec expectations.
Key Accountabilities:
• Review engineer inputs, understand the scope of work, and plan accordingly without altering the design intent.
• Prepare basic plant/site layouts, general arrangement drawings, reinforced concrete, and steelwork arrangement drawings that are clear, accurate, and cost-effective.
• Visualize and produce 2D drawings using AutoCAD efficiently and proficiently. Knowledge and experience of 3D model using Civil 3D/Revit will be added advantage.
• Ensure the designs meet specifications, can be constructed safely, and adhere to environmental considerations.
• Ensure the use of standard practices and details wherever possible, adapting previous solutions to current projects.
• Follow quality procedures and processes, ensuring that all documentation, including drawings and records, is maintained throughout the project duration.
• Coordinate with BIM/CAD Leads, other discipline designers, and engineers to meet project requirements.
• Ensure proper drawing coordination with internal and external stakeholders to avoid discrepancies and ensure project success.
• Maintain documentation, including reinforcement and steelwork drawings, schedules, and records.
• Report any issues encountered in the detailing process to the appropriate personnel promptly.
• Adhere to health and safety standards in all design and detailing activities.
• Consider environmental impacts in all aspects of work and strive to implement sustainable practices.
