Project Technical Lead

Primary Purpose of Job:
The purpose of this role is to oversee all aspects of the engineering delivery of projects from multiple Business Line (Water, Infra, Buildings, Energy & Resources), focusing on technical delivery of multi-discipline Infrastructure Development projects as a PTL. This role will report directly to Business Line Leader (BLL) and will be responsible for technical leadership and delivery of multi-disciplinary projects. This will encompass monitoring and controlling multiple projects, providing leadership and mentoring for engineering staff, and working closely with other Business Line Leads to support engineering design. The role also requires developing a clear understanding of the context of Stantec’s organization, the various changes being undertaken beyond the project and aligning the project approach, impact, and timing with a focus on outcome driven decision making.
Key Accountabilities:
- Support the BLL in the day-to-day delivery of projects, including project delivery performance, developing level of effort, change management, risk management, forecasting and budgeting, resource planning and performance reporting.
- Drive project delivery best practice on the projects being delivered including GDC integrated quality management system.
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams to provide our clients with innovative solutions which achieve their desired outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with H&S procedures, driving a strong health and safety and wellbeing culture across project teams.
- Lead project level of effort development/ Estimation activities in line with Stantec GDC’s Project/Proposal Approval Matrix.
- Conduct training and mentoring sessions for Assistant Project Leads.
- Build a strong brand and identity for Stantec, and coach and mentor the project teams to deliver successfully.

- Ensure opportunities to improve performance are identified and driven forward to realize benefits.
- Ensure Stantec GDC governance and compliance is always maintained and that all work is managed and delivered in line with Stantec processes and procedures.
- Work with the Major Projects Lead, BCOL, BCPL in the planning of key strategic proposals, and in particular ensuring that the right people lead and review proposals.
- Work closely with the GDC Project Lead Community of Practice leadership team on the development & delivery of initiatives for business improvement.
- Develop own technical brand within GDC/regional stakeholders in core discipline/area of expertise through direct technical contribution on project.
