Squadformers is seeking a talented, driven Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting our exciting start-up clientele. This role is perfect for a seasoned backend engineer who thrives on creating robust APIs, building scalable databases, and contributing to AI/ML-driven solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to work on innovative projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver backend solutions that elevate user experiences.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Work fully remote as part of a distributed team.
  • Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.
  • Contribute to AI/ML initiatives, supporting model integration and deployment for client projects.
  • Develop efficient, secure, and scalable database schemas and optimize queries.
  • Work closely with front-end, DevOps, and data science teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Actively participate in mission-critical client engagements to improve product velocity and deliver high-quality, scalable backend systems.
  • Collaborate daily with your squad to share knowledge and drive continuous improvement.
What We Are Looking For:
  • 5-10+ years of backend development experience with Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs that scale to millions of users
  • Experience crafting and implementing robust unit, integration, and API testing to ensure bug-free and maintainable applications and services with tools like Postman and Pytest
  • Experience supporting AI/ML projects, with an understanding of data pipelines, model integration, and API-driven ML deployment.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and concepts (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD) is a plus.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing backend services for scalability and performance.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passionate about growing professionally within a supportive, collaborative team.
Requirements:
  • Self-starter, collaborative team player, and proactive communicator.
  • Flexible and eager to pick up new languages, frameworks, libraries, and tools.
  • 40 hours per week commitment.
  • A degree is not required; demonstrated skills and experience matter most.

Salary: $155-180k depending on experience and location.
