Spotify is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our Music Technology Platform engineering organization. You will forge new ground in how we help labels and their artists and managers, and help us fulfill our mission of giving a million creative artists the opportunity to live off their art. As a part of a platform-focused team, you will help exemplify, measure and raise the reliability of products and operational capabilities of squads across the Music Mission organization by providing tools and collaborating with teams a distributed database with which to build dynamic data visualizations for artists and labels. You'll work closely with engineers to advocate for sensible, scalable, systems design and share responsibility with them in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing production issues. We are strong believers in engineering teams taking operational responsibility for their products and work hard to support them in this.

What You'll Do

  • Design deployments and operate a large distributed database to enable our engineers to build dynamic data products for artists, their teams, labels, and other music industry partners.
  • Monitor, review, and improve the reliability of systems and practices in the Music Mission’s domain.
  • Work closely with the Music Mission analytics squads to assist them in adopting and improving their use of existing tools and practices such as SLOs, alerting, runbooks, synthetic testing, and general observability.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation alongside the engineers who build our products.
  • Analyze incidents involving Music Mission systems.
  • Run our platform with Terraform and Kubernetes.

Who You Are

  • You have 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • You bring a background in SRE and database technologies, with experience in cloud-native architectures.
  • You have an understanding of various database technologies across platforms like GCP, AWS, and Azure, Druid or another OLAP database is a great to have for this role.
  • You are proficient in Java, with additional skills in Kubernetes, Terraform. Experience with programming languages such as Python, Scala, Go, or TypeScript would be a bonus!
  • You are a good communicator and an empathetic, attentive listener with the capability to anticipate the needs of partners.
  • You are deeply curious, and enjoy exploring both technical and organizational problems and domains.
  • You are eager to learn new technologies and to expand your area of expertise.

Where You'll Be

  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the North American time zone as long as we have a work location.
The United States base range for this position is $ 122,715 - $ 175,308, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays. These ranges may be modified in the future.
