Sportradar, the global leader in understanding and leveraging the power of sports data and digital content, is seeking a Backend Developer for the Audio-Visual team in Trondheim. As the official data- and streaming provider for some of the world's largest sports leagues, Sportradar has exclusive distribution rights to in-game data, live streaming and connected services for more than 1.500 live games per day from every corner of the world. THE CHALLENGE:

 

Working as a part of the Audio-Visual Tribe development team in Trondheim, the Backend Java Developer will be responsible for implementing backend applications together with team members to deliver all our live streams, Video on Demand services, live video clipping, and OTT premium services for major sports-leagues and fedrations . We are looking for a new developer to our Video Technology team to work with our Java backend components for our video workflow management and orchestration platform, which in cloud native environments in AWS. The Audiovisual engineering-teams in Trondheim support the business needs of the AV vertical for content and client management, analytics, live operations, and post-match reporting. Most of the daily tasks involve working with Java, SpringBoot, Kubernetes, Gitlab CI/CD, AWS Aurora, Redis and other tools.

 

We are seeing an increasing demand for our video-streaming product portfolio and we are therefore looking to increase our team with Java developer. You will be involved in delivering hundreds of TB of video content daily to millions of end-users all over the world, as well as live clips and VOD's. We cover sporting events like NBA and ATP to hundreds of clients, requiring high uptime and a global presence in multiple cloud data centres. Want to create a live clip of Nadal delivering that winning serve? Or making sure the stream from the venue is delivered to our infrastructure with full observability?

 

We are looking for someone who has a clear passion for development and creating state-of-the-art solutions, an interested in streaming of video, and having a sound working knowledge of Java as well as good skills in databases and MySQL, knows new and current technological trends, designs and development processes, keeps an eye on results correctness as well as solution testability and maintainability.

 

As our Backend Developer, you will:

  • Work with the following tech stack: Java (majority is on 21), SpringBoot 3, Kubernetes, MySQL, Lambda, S3, RDS, etc.

  • Participate in Code Reviews and writing tests – we are a quality-focused company

  • Contribute to developing new solutions, sharing your ideas and opinions, and implementing them

  • Have a space to develop your skills during our self-development time program

 

YOUR PROFILE:
 

Must have:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in backend technologies like Java or Kotlin.

  • Passion for developing quality software - that will run 24/7 to deliver 1500+ live streamed sports-games per day

  • A problem-solving attitude, i.e. not just focused on writing code, but on tackling complex problems and determining how best to solve them.

  • Understanding of software architecture principles

 

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS services like EKS, RDS, Lambda, etc.

  • Experience with Java Testing Frameworks

  • Familiarity with API development

  • Willingness to practice TDD and pair programming

  • Proactively identify improvement areas and propose changes with clear benefits to the team
