Role Summary

This role is part of the Foundations team, which is part of our Data Platform division and plays a critical role in the Splunk platform. The Frameworks team is responsible for leading the platform-wide evolution of the core Splunk Platform towards a modernized, microservice-oriented architecture built for scale and performance. As the Senior Product Manager of the core architecture team, you will be responsible for the strategy and roadmap for evolving the core of our platform technology and product offerings that rely on it.
You will provide leadership to one or more teams as they improve the scalability and availability of the Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud product offerings. You will also be accountable for ensuring smooth delivery of platform improvements to Splunk customers and to features and apps built that rely on these platforms. This role requires solid understanding of and ability to build data-driven deployment plans from telemetry/usage data.
This role presents an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience in building end-to-end data platform cloud services contributing towards Splunk’s industry-leading data platform and delivering high impact customer & business outcomes
Your solid understanding of industry-standard technologies (such as Kubernetes and other container management and orchestration tooling) and design patterns (including service-oriented architecture) will be crucial to how we plan out and lead your team through major architectural changes. Your ability to build trust with and communicate directly with Splunk's customer and developer community will be essential to the smooth delivery of your roadmap.

What you'll get to do

As with any fast-growing company, day-to-day responsibilities will span the entire product management lifecycle and include deep interaction with customers, sales, and engineering.
  • Work with a globally distributed engineering team to develop a roadmap for Splunk’s sub-system architecture, how nodes and services interact in the larger ecosystem, in a microservices architecture including lifecycle and configuration management, integration, and packaging.
  • Engage with both external and internal customers (e.g. Splunk development and product teams) regularly to gather feedback, resolve customer impact, and validate value propositions.
  • Build compelling and high impact platform capabilities, based on a deep understanding of customer needs & market trends, translating them into clear priorities and product roadmap.
  • Partner with sales & marketing, legal, documentation and support to translate highly technical software and systems engineering concepts into customer & developer impact and value.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, QA, SRE, and release teams to plan, drive and implement product release cycles.
  • Influence cross-functional collaborators with various dependencies to your core team, as well as high competence in managing such dependencies.
  • Translate sophisticated technical products and features into simple concepts and presentations.

Must-have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product management.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard container management and orchestration tooling.
  • Curious about distributed, enterprise-scale systems and modern architecture.
  • Technical background in data management, high availability, scalability monitoring and system performance.
  • Deep understanding of data platform market, trends, competition and industry.
  • Strong sense of customer compassion to care deeply about customer problems and user experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and data driven product decision-making mindset.
  • Collaborative teammate, with strong communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical products and features into simple concepts and presentations.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Experience as a Product Manager with data platform, storage, databases or clustering technologies.
  • Experience with building large scale data management platforms or services.
  • Familiarity with metrics, events, logs and traces, including major market players in this space and general design of tooling for collecting and searching data.
  • Deep understanding of data platform and platform engineering market, trends and competition.
  • Passion for solving daring technical problems and building enterprise products with intuitive user experience.
  • Strong bias for action, creative thinking, innovation and data driven product decision-making.
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure and agile software development.

Base Pay Range 

Poland 

Base Pay: PLN 177,600.00 - 244,200.00 per year 

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
