Principal Product Engineer (Remote, USA Available)
About the Role
What you'll do
- Provide expert security industry knowledge internally to Splunk teams and partners on security and compliance related products.
- Ability to think outside the box and provide continuous innovation
- Ability to be disruptive with the solutions that are created
- Write code to onboard or manipulate new, exciting data sources.
- Build Splunk Technology Add-ons (TAs) or enhancement to our cloud, core or premium products.
- Build Splunk Apps to visualize data and tell a story that solves technology or business problems.
- Integrate solutions and data from various sources to address customer or partner needs.
- Work with external or internal partners to up-level their App or Technology Add-on (TA).
- Provide hands-on keyboard assistant to a technical sales resource execute a specific portion of a particularly challenging evaluation.
- Contribute to and/or implement beta and early release software and ensure accurate feedback on product usage reaches Splunk Engineering.
- Present at an external conference or an internal event on Splunk-relevant topics.
- Contribute blog posts to our external blog site detailing solutions that you have built or co-developed.
- Help craft the direction of Splunk’s business through decisions on organic product roadmap or inorganic acquisition.
- File enhancement or bug reports for issues encountered.
What you'll bring
- Up-to-date understanding of current patterns and practices in the cybersecurity and compliance landscape.
- Significant coding experience with JavaScript and modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries (including JQuery), Python or similar scripting language, REST interfaces, and MVC frameworks.
- Familiarity with modern SDLC methodologies (version control using git, CI/CD pipelines, application security standard methodologies).
- Experience with data analysis using statistical methods.
- Experience with data visualizations, UI layout, D3.js, HTML, CSS, XML, JSON.
- Familiarity with cloud-native serverless architectures.
- Portfolio of public-facing materials: repositories, whitepapers, blogs, presentations, training materials you have authored.
- Ability to communicate concisely and accurately with experience in public speaking to audiences large and small.
- Ability to work remotely and across multiple time zones with a minimum of daily supervision. Self-starter and self-motivated in driving projects from start to finish while meeting delivery deadlines and quality standards.
- MUST be already located in the U.S. (we are not able to offer relocation or immigration/transfer for this specific role).
- Ability to travel 20% within the US and Canada.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or similar course of study. Equivalent professional experience will be considered for highly-qualified candidates.

Base Pay Range
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $181,200.00 - 249,150.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $163,080.00 - 224,235.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $144,960.00 - 199,320.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
