ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a PHP Developer to design, develop and maintain robust web applications. The role covers core backend development using PHP and the CodeIgniter framework (Laravel exposure is a plus), database design, API development and integration with front-end interfaces.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Application Development: Design, develop and implement web applications using the CodeIgniter framework, including features like user authentication, data management and API integration.

• Backend Development: Write clean, efficient and well-documented PHP code to handle server-side logic, database interactions and application functionalities.

• Database Management: Create, maintain and optimize database structures using MySQL, PostgreSQL or other relational databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.

• Front-End Integration: Collaborate with front-end and design teams to integrate backend functionality with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and Ajax, ensuring seamless UI/UX integration.

• API Development: Design and develop RESTful APIs for application integration with external services.

• Code Optimization: Identify and implement performance improvements to enhance application speed and scalability.

• Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough testing, and troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure application stability, quality and responsiveness.

• Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing maintenance and support for deployed applications, addressing issues and implementing updates.

• Requirement Analysis: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

• Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews, giving and receiving constructive feedback to improve

code quality.

• Continuous Learning: Keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in web

development and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• PHP: Strong PHP programming, including object-oriented programming concepts.

• Frameworks: Hands-on knowledge of CodeIgniter; familiarity with Laravel is an advantage.

• Database: Proficient in SQL query writing, optimized queries and database management with

MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar databases.

• Front-End: Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and Ajax for front-end integration.

• Web Concepts: Understanding of web application architecture, RESTful APIs and session

management.

• Version Control: Proficiency in Git / GitHub for code versioning and collaboration.

• Analytical: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work with

cross-functional teams.

GOOD TO HAVE

• Experience with third-party CodeIgniter libraries and plugins.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Strong teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or

equivalent practical experience.

• 0 – 1 year of experience as a PHP Developer; a portfolio of web applications is an advantage.
