Mechanical Engineer Intern

Position Summary:  

Spectral AI is a medical device company that focuses on using deep learning and optical imaging techniques to make diagnostic predictions with regards to wound healing potential. 

Spectral AI is looking for a team-oriented Mechanical engineer intern who will work closely with mechanical, manufacturing, biomedical and electrical engineers to support our current and future medical imaging devices. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Assist with design, analysis, and verification of electromechanical components
• Assist in root cause analysis and participate in design improvements to mitigate failures
• Assist in the documentation and release of electromechanical and/or optomechanical components and sub-assemblies, including but not limited to drawings, component specifications, and work instructions
• Assist in engineering level design verification testing and documentation
• Assist in design and testing of test fixtures for use in a production environment
• Assist hardware and software development and perform unit testing 

Required education and experience: 

• In process of obtaining a BS or a graduate degree in a relevant degree (ME, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering)
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment producing high quality products on tight timelines

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Understanding of engineering first principles
• Basic knowledge of ASME Y14.5-2009
• Familiarity with common CAD software packages (SolidWorks, CREO, Autodesk Inventor, etc.)
• Software development skills in Python
• Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with design, prototyping, and manufacturing processes
