Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Avathon’s Renewable Suite is the world's leading AI enabled SaaS platform that provides asset performance management and prescriptive analytics software to ever growing renewable energy power plants by combining the power of machine learning, big data, and deep domain expertise. Our platform works across multiple asset types such as wind, solar, storage and DC coupled assets to offer insights to our customers across their fleets. You will be working closely with team members across domains with deep technical skills and passion for clean energy.

Join us in:

• Bringing large volumes of data from wind, solar, storage sites to cloud
• Building an Asset Performance Management and Predictive Analytics platform for energy assets
• Architecting scalable data ETL, MLOps pipelines, data ingestion and workflows 
• Work closely with delivery engineering team for successful hand-off of with detailed documentation of ETL and customer workflow 

You Will:

• Develop and maintain scalable, robust, and high-performance backend systems using Python/Django
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Python, following TDD (Test-Driven Development) principles
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Implement secure RESTful APIs and manage microservices architecture
• Optimize backend applications for maximum performance and scalability
• Implement and manage containerized applications using Docker
• Work with MLOps pipelines, integrating machine learning models into production environments
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share best practices
• Assist in collecting and documenting user requirements, developing user stories and estimates
• Provide technical support for backend systems and applications

You'll Have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of experience in backend development with Python/Django
• Strong understanding of building REST APIs and web services using Django/DRF, Flask or similar frameworks
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), including deploying and scaling services
• Familiarity with MLOps practices, managing machine learning models in production environments
• Strong knowledge of Docker and containerized development workflows
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment

Location: Austin TX, Pleasanton CA 

Pay Range: $110,000 - $200,000 base salary. Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
